S&W M&P Buy before the end of Jan 2008 and you get two free magazines and a $50 rebate.

XD is my second favorite polymer gun, it was my favorite until I got the M&P. The XD still gets a lot of range time since I have the 5" "tactical" variation and that extra inch makes a disproportionate difference in the sight picture with my presbyoptia (old eyes :( ). So far no 5" barrel options for the M&P.

Glocks just don't work for me, but they are great guns if you can shoot them well.

I hate DA/SA guns, and much prefer the CZ guns in metal frames.

I'd say go for the SA XD.

However, my HK USP9 is a cracking pistol, love it, simple to clean and very accurate.

+1 go with the XD.

I have both the M&P and the XD in 9mm. I had the M&P longer, but the XD is my favorite. I like the trigger better on the XD, and the over all quality seems a bit better on the XD (to me anyways).

I don't care for Glocks, even though they are great guns. They just don't fit my hand, and I don't care for many of the Glocks shortcomings. I also hate the looks; they look like they fell out of the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down. If Glock made their pistols look like a Hi-Point it would be an improvemnt on their aesthetics.

CZ P-01 or the CZ-75D PCR (similar pistol to the P-01 but without the light rail.

Gotta go w/the CZ on this one. High capacity, dead on accurate, and tough as nails.

I hate DA/SA guns, and much prefer the CZ guns in metal frames.
The CZ P01 has a metal frame.

What do you mean by overall? What platform are you interested in? What duty(ies) is this gun going to be involved in? Best as in accuracy? Concealability? Ease of field stripping? Best looking? Out of the box reliablility? Ergonomics? The list goes on and on.

Please provide more parameters so that a more accurate opinion can be provided...

I own 3. P95DC, Sig P226 (W. German), newly acquired Beretta 92FS (Italian). Next 2 on my list - CZ75BD & Browning Hi-Power. Beretta has the best feel & 'pointability' of the bunch. It's by far the most enjoyable to shoot. The Ruger is for my wife & relatives to use at the range. No one else touches the others. I'd recommend all of them.

You left out a number of other very good choices off of your list...and most importantly...the selection for ... all of the above.

From your list my choice would be XD.

Another CZ guy, plus I have a soft spot for metal frames, so P-01 it is. If you don't need the light rail, then get the PCR (my choice).

Have you actually held/fired all of these? Simply going through this exercise will probably make the decision for you.
