What a double charge WILL do

Ouch, glad you're OK. That was big of you to sacrifice the SBH to remind us to pay attention when loading, I probably would have chosen a Taurus or Rossi to drive home a point rather than that gun.

Deja Vu

Very glad you were not injured or worse, Snuffy. I appreciate your firearms experience and I would miss your posts. I have seen a similar Ruger aftermath... Our local gunsmith and guru of many years, a man who helped me as a youngster acquire more guns and more knowledge, picked up a round of .44 Mag that he found in the desert, stuffed it into a beautiful old 3-screw Ruger and came home with a gun that looked very similar to yours. The cylinder looked exactly the same, but the topstrap only detached at the rear and then banana-peeled forward over the barrel. He was unhurt as well, except for his pride. He sulked for weeks.
I miss him...

Snuffy! Thankyou for the Post! I've gotten by for 41 years (knock on wood)....I'd like to make it 42. This little reminder at your expense, just might make it possible.....maybe....at 61, approaching Alzheimer's may have more to say about it than I want.

Sure as hell I'm going to remember my safety glasses....I hope....what was I going to remember???

And btw, the hell with the Ruger, I'm glad you are OK! --Greg

Thanks for that comic relief BP. I actually thought of Clark when I considered posting this, I wondered if he ever tested a revolver to this point.

To TRY to do that would be real foolish. Why would anybody want to sacrifice a fine firearm like that?

I'm going to sulk for a while, until I get another .44. I considered sending this one in to Ruger AGAIN, if for no other reason than to give them a good laugh. There's not much to salvage, it would likely cost about what a new one is.

Glad to hear that you are all right.

I had to learn the hard way not to load when really tired.

I was loading .38s with an old Herters single stage (1982) and missed a whole row of cases and did not put any powder in them.

When the first one went pop I realized what had happened and disposed of the whole box. That was after my friend laughed and said, "wait till you find the ones you doubled".

We all do dumb things. Praise the LORD that he sometimes lets us live to pass the lesson on to others.

I am glad you're OK.
This is why I use a powder check/cop die on every round I reload.

Snuffy: Glad you are OK. There was a lot of metal flying around and it is just wonderful that you are in one piece, without additional pieces added.

Sorry about the Super Blackhawk.

Stuff happens.

Like all the others, I'm glad you weren't hurt.
At least not physically.

Always a shame to see a fine firearm looking like that.
