So I have a repro P53 2 band Enfield rifle mustket headed my way. I'm wondering what all I need to acquire for the appropriate care and feeding.A quick bit of background, I have shot BP before, but in a revolver. I know that there are certain issues one can run into with a long gun, that might not be an issue in a wheel gun (or vice a versa). What are some recommended accessories to make my life smoother?

Thanks!

There's a specific nipple protector made for the Enfield. It's a little metal (lead?) cup on a chain, with a leather top for the hammer to rest on. The other end of the chain is attached to the lower sling swivel. There's also a specific Enfield combination tool (in privates' and sergeants' versions) being reproduced. These items are illustrated here: http://www.blockaderunner.com/Catalog/catpg6.htm

Then there are the usual generic implements that you would need, such as a nipple wrench, a nipple pick, a worm, and a ball puller. (The latter two go on the threaded end of the ramrod.) Some of these may be included as part of the specific Enfield combination tool.

If you are a reenactor, you would also need an authentic sling, a bayonet, a proper cartridge box, etc., etc. These items add up in a hurry.

You can also get items you need from S&S Firearms & northeasttradeco and for more suttlers go to the N-ssa web page,
basics you need are a good cleaning rod, proper jag, a 58 cal brush, worm & ball puller. & a good nipple wrench. Northeast sells really nice cleaning rods & jags
