Trying to load 10mm on my Lee Pro 1000. Sizeing die set as per the Lee video. The powder drop puts the right amount of flare on the case mouth, seater die seats at 1.250 and does a light crimp. Bullet looks good but only goes half way,( sometimes a bit more) into a Wilson Chamber Gage. One round actually ALMOST went all the way but hangs up at about where the web in the case starts. What am I missing? Been fooling with this thing more than 2 hours with no luck. 165 gr rainer, Lee dies ( Brand New).

Roll or taper crimp? I would agree the crimp is the most likely suspect. Based on your statement "a light crimp", you make it sound like you are roll crimping the cartridge.

Checked crimp. Its OK. Just disassembled the Delta Elite and tried the old " drop in the barrel test". They all just fell into the barrrel, no tightness, no problem. This gage has a ton of tool marks like a swirl on top and bottom. None of my other gages from Wilson look like this.Think I'll call Wilson in the morning. Maybe I have a non-spec gage?

Yeah that's possible too. For some reason I thought you had used the gauge before, although re-reading what you wrote, obviously you are loading 10mm for the first time. If they fit in your Delta Elite barrel, everything else sounds good.

Any chance you can post some pictures of the rounds themselves?

Just a stab in the dark. Have you tried a factory round in the
gauge? That might tell you something. If the rounds drop in
the barrel when you use the barrel as the gauge I would try
shooting the stuff and see what happens. You are shooting
ammo not gauges.

Havok - Roll crimp on a 10mm? That headspaces off the case mouth..

If it passes the barrel plunk test.. rock it and see how she does.

I never saw much use in case gauges.. I set my loads to work in the chamber they'll be fired out of.. not a spec my chamber may not adhere to very strictly.

I agree, roll crimp is usually not used on 10mm, but the way the OP made it sound it could have been.

Might be a roll crimp. In fact, I believe that is what Lee uses in the 3 die set. I need to get a taper crimp seating die I suppose. I use the gauge 'cause I have 3 10's. I want all my ammo to shoot out of all my guns. Too much trouble to try and have three sets of dies tuned up.

Jgh, for what it's worth, I also have 3 10mm guns and I only have one set of dies for all 3 and no case gauge. As some others have said, I don't see a point to the gauges - as long as your cartridges drop into all barrels concerned, that's really all that matters (to me).
