Looks like i made up my decision tonight, i will be putting a 22/45 or a MkII (probably the 22/45, but they are similar, so anyways...) and i was wondering what ammo everyone was having luck with with these little Rugers.

I know that Bimart has been having some good deals on the Reminton Thunderbolt .22, but i wonder how well these run?

Any advice?

Ours seems to eat about anything we feed it. I really haven't noticed any problems with varied brands.

I'd say try whatever is on sale and go from there.--Oneshot

I would only suggest that you buy a brick of high velosity ammo like Mini Mags and shoot that first. You will get far fewer problems while you break in the gun if you do . After that use whatever you want and the gun will shoot better than you do with pretty much anything.

My gun will digest about anything it's fed. It's most accurate with the cheap bulk pack winchester xperts, but every .22 is different so try several brands and see what your likes the best.

I agree with P95carry on the WM Federal HPs. They are pretty accurate.
My 22/45 seems to run a bit smoother with HV than STD velocity.
I have had mixed results with Tbolts. Inconsistant.

Congrates in advance when you get the new addition.

My Ruger has eaten up everything I've fed it over the years. Currently she's been eating up the Federal bulk pack from Wally World. They work fine & they're alot cleaner & more accuate than those Remingtons they sell.

Anything but Winchester Xpert hollow points. Niether my 22/45 nor my MK II will feed these, they get jammed at the base of the feedramp. If you decide to buy these, get only a 50 round box to try as I have heard others having feeding problems with this ammo.

I do think these guns need some break in. My 22/45 had about a 2% failure rate until about 2000 rounds. Now it shoots like a dream and almost never jams as long as it is kept somewhat clean.

Mine doesn't like the cheap Wally World bulk packs of Remington, Federal, or Winchester ammo. I have failure to feed on average of about once per 3 magazines.

In fairness though I believe it to be the ammo instead of the gun.
Every time it jammed, the round that was just fired had noticeably less 'oomph' than a normal round would.

It'll run Stingers just fine.

Mine eats everything from the Wallyworld cheapo's to Stingers, Yellowjackets, Super-X, you name it. I love the 22/45 cuz it matches the grip frame of my 1911's.

I've used it very successfully as a trainer, and everybody that's picked it up has torn the X-ring up!
