So, a friend and I (well, a few friends and I) are wanting to start making ammo to sell. We are wanting to make and sell ammo that is lacking in the market, and for decent prices, like 7.62x39 defensive ammo. (i know there is the cor-bon stuff, but it is EXPENSIVE) I have seen a lot of people wanting it loaded with the same 110gr bullet as is in Hornady's TAP FPD .308 ammo, what do you think about that? We are thinking about 7mm-08 match'ish ammo too, as it is a very popular silhouette rifle shooting cartridge, and there is a lack of good non hunting ammo for it.

So, what do you think, and any ideas?

Thanks,

Neal

P.S. I have most of the legal angles covered, and the others i am working on the others.

Some priced-for-plinking .303 British FMJ would be nice. I'd really like to shoot my Enfield Jungle Carbine but not for over $11/box.

Ill look into that, i really want to offer god ammo at decent prices. Read, cheap. I don't have to pay any underlings :D

.41rf. I want a Remington Derringer that I can SHOOT!
.41rim fire? Unless i can get components, i can't do that. This is only going to be a little more complex than a fancy reloading set up for now, but i am hopint to expand in the future and start making components and firearms.

I would like to buy incendiary or exploding bullets in every caliber.
Funny. Sorry though:D

Gonna make your own brass too?
'Cause that's the hard part...
Nope, as i said above, only assembeling for now. Later comes making the components.

Beowulf ammunition costs a buck a round or more. if you make some of this i'd buy it from you in mass quantities
...it's impossible to come by unless you order from alexander arms

Oh, yeah, here is a list of the ones i am thinking of starting with, from most to least important (the ones i start with to the ones i do later on) but some are not in order:
.223 remington
.308 winchester, probably more like plinking ammo, maybe a bit of match
7.62x39, defensive ammo
.416 ridgby
.300 Whisper
.45 ACP
poss .17 rem fireball
.204 ruger or .20 pratical
6mmBR(X)
10mm auto!!!!!
.260 remington match and or 6.5x47 match/plinking
.50 Beowulf or .458 socom. .50 would use hornadys new flex tip bullets for the 500S&W
.458 Lott/win mag
.338(/378 wby)(Lapua mag)(excalibur)one of these

unless you have millions to work with you wont be able to make it cheap. Or atleast you wont make money on it if you sell it cheap. Good luck finding components these days too. I sell reloading components and they are very hard to come by right now.

Good luck getting the rights from bill alexander to make and sell it. He won't release the rights to anyone except those that will pay for them.

alright well you have a point, but i wouldn't object to making donations to newdude in exchange for some "free" ammunition that he made without intent to sell....
lol

I'd like something other than 22LR that is affordable. Is that asking too much?
I am trying to make quality ammo for affordable prices. Not super cheap, and it will not be match grade, but something in between.

Thats what i like to hear!!!:D

I will put the donation spot up on my website, i will leave the ammo under your car.....:D

Ill work on that, see if i can convince him that what he is doing is stupid. lol

Now that's what I'm talking about!!!
Just need a lot of people that think like you, and want some ammo...
BTW, eventually i will offer match ammo. Probably not .308 though, as federal, hornady, and black hills have that pretty much tied up:D

You may already know this but if you dont make sure you fully understand what the term "Economy of Scale" means.

Start small. Then get big. yeah, i know it pretty good:D:neener::D I don't expect to make a LOT of money, this is going to be a past time thingy. I have a LOT of free time.

American made 7x57 in 160gr with modern pressure and a high end hunting bullet of one type or another.
Ill add that to my list. But then i have the problem of BIG liability when some idiot sticks it in some old mauser.....:uhoh::(

maybe add 45 colt to that list, at about 40 bucks a box of fifty, that you can load for 15 bucks/ 50 BUYING NEW BRASS, it might be worth it to ya as im seein more an more topics on the 45 colt

I guess what I am getting at is there are long standing ammo manufactures that have tremendous economy of scale advantage over you so they have the ability to make the ammo cheaper already. Unless you are only going to deal locally it is going to be hard to go up against that kind of might.
