What are magpulls for?

MagPul Inc. (or whatever) thinks you should use them to hang onto the mag then entire time, so you hold them both by the magpul with your fingers looped around, etc. I don't think much of this, but if you do, they come with a manual usually, which shows the several methods.

I love them just because they make it a breeze to get them out of pouches. Especially for tight mags, like the FAL, or short one (20-round .223s in 30-round pouches). You can make your own pull tab from 100-mph tape, 550 cord, zipties or a combo of those three also. I have seen at least 6 methods, so search around.

I like the magpul because of the grippy rubber. I have never dropped a magpul'd mag while reloading, but otherwise am quite prone to doing so.

And anyway, its another doodad to stick on your gun. Everyone wants that!
