What are people using for rifle + shotgun in USPSA heavy metal-

Not specific brand, but the rules state that shotgun "may" be limited to pump and that rifle "may" have one optic.

Are most matches limiting people to pumps and irons?

AR-10s and M1As seem to be the norm for rifles. A FAL shows up now and again. M1A would be my choice.

870s and Mossbergs seem to be the norm for rifles. A Nova shows up now and again. Nova would be my choice.

I really wish the big matches would get their act together and standardize He-Man.

There is also a few guys crying about wanting optics on rifles.

SMM3G just decided that the 40 was good for He-Man. Huge step backwards in my opinion.

So iron sights and pump shotguns as far as you have seen Hoser?

The only M1A disdvantage I could see would be slow mag changes vs. AR10 types.
