I don't think .44 Special or .44 Magnum are any good. They don't serve a purpose that a .45 Colt or .454 Casull can't handle.

I don't think that Mosin Nagants are worth talking about. Never liked them, even when they were selling for $9.95 apiece. (Admittedly, they did show the mighty Wehrmacht what's what, when it came to ground combat.) Clumsy safeties, short stubby bolt handles that are hard to manipulate, poor triggers...nothing that I like about them.

If you don't cast your own boolits and load your own ammunition, you're missing a valuable experience and an important connection to your shooting heritage.

I don't think Kimbers are up to the hype or price. There's dozens of other manufactures making a better 1911 for less money. with todays machining technology, any company who says you have to shoot 400 rounds of premium ammo before the gun is considered reliable is simply producing unreliable guns! The only thing Kimber actually does better than others is marketing.

I guess I don't have opinions you have about guns. I like all of them. Mine .22lr,.380,9mm,.38spl,.357,9mm mak,.44 mag,.45acp,.45 colt,.460mag,9mm largo,.223,.308,.30-06,7.62X54r,11.75 danish. Might be a couple of more.

I hate that people want .22 lr as the base model for training the kids and new shooters when you can download a larger caliber for actual shooting they'd enjoy more.

so shooting a .22lr isnt "actual shooting"......but shooting a .223 that has be downloaded to .22lr specs is?

Firearm accuracy is what the biggest group measures.

Properly full length sized (and often new) cases produce the best accuracy.

Every barrel does not need loads worked up to get excellent accuracy.

Skinny barrels shoot just as accurate as fat ones and don't change point of impact as they heat up.

Winchester 70 receivers are 2.65 times stiffer than Remington 700 ones.

1) The AK stopped being an impressive design 5 years after its creation
1.5) That the Soviets gave away & forced vassal states to make AKs is not validation of the design
2) The AR's gas system has always been unimpressive
2.5) That the US gives away ARs & forced allies to adopt 5.56 is not validation of the design
3) Short stroke piston operation is the best solution available today
4) Rotating-breech, reciprocating actions are an evolutionary dead end like toggle-link actions of 1800's

I can't stand the ergonomics of the AR platform. I feel the same way about the Remington 870, everything is just in the wrong place for me.

I don't think 45colt is necessary...won't do ANYTHING that a 44 special and 44 mag won't do...that is the reason that I divested myself of 45colt guns...they served no purpose.

I have opinions some don't like or share.

Hunting rifles should be as light and accurate as possible, looks don't matter as much.

Defensive shotguns should be pump action.

CCW guns should be much larger in both size and caliber than most people are willing to deal with.

Some guns are works of art, others are simply tools. Do not confuse the two. Both types are enjoyable but fill different roles.

Shooting is NOT training, although training might involve some shooting.

90 percent of shooters have yet to master the fundamentals. People, for some reason, dislike being told they need to improve, as if shooting was somehow an inborn skill. It's not, just like learning any other skill.

These are NOT my opinions but it irks me when people voice them.

That Taurus and Rossi revolvers are no good.

Henry Rifles ( modern ) are capitalizing on the old Henry name and the "Big Boy" is not a replica of any historic firearm.

I don't care to read bashing of Glocks even though I have no interest in owning one..... yet

A revolver is better suited for ccw and the TYPE of encounters private citizens are likely to be engaged in than a single stack low capacity auto

380 fills a gap that no longer exists. Every modern 380 design would be better served as a 32acp or a slightly bigger 9mm

Remington is NOT a reputable manufacturer and the 700 is the original cheap rifle designed before we were good at making guns cheap.

The notion of a ccw pistol reload is a fantasy

There are no accurate cartridges only guns, although over the years I've learned some case designs lend themselves to case size and prep consistency more than others.
