My state is likely passing an AWB and I want to grab some lowers before it takes affect. I've never really contemplated building my own AR's until the past month or so and I figure whether I do or don't it's not a bad idea to have some lowers on hand.

My intention is to build one lightweight AR, possibly make it a 10-12 inch pistol if it will save more weight, one long range AR for 75+ grain .223/5.56 bullets and that will have a 20-24 inch barrel, and the rest will be extra lowers in case something happens to the others and they become non-functional.

My preference is forged lowers, but I'll accept billet if the price is right. Please help me out guys, I'd look online, but I've been pressed for time the past few days as I start a new job this week.

You missed the killer deals. Primary Arms had Anderson lowers for $29.99.

They’re not forged but rather mil spec cast

Their regular price is $39.99

If you shop you you may find slightly better by that isn’t a horrible price

^So can I, the problem is going to be finding an LGS that doesn't charge me 50 ****ing dollars for the transfer, possibly for each lower!

Shop around and find a FFL who will charge you one fee for multiple lowers.
There's one 40 mins away and they've already raised prices since two weeks ago. I've already done two transfers thru them the past two weeks and I hate to keep going down there each week, but if I have to do it, I will.

I picked up an Anderson lower at a gun show yesterday for $49. Others there had them for $100, they were not selling at $100....
They're hoping the non early birds will be panicked enough to buy them.

What State do you live in" Price is relative to where you live.

As commented Anderson makes a good lower. $30.00 sale price plus $15.00 transfer fee from my FFL makes the $45.00 +/- average for me. I have brought two for $45.00 and one for $50.00 over the last couple of years.

All the places around here sell Anderson's and others for $75 to $100. Cheapest FFL transfers here are $25. Never tried to nogotiate a lot price for transfers. I paid $75 for my laser engraved Anderson since I wouldn't save anything getting one transferred. If I could get the for $40 at a gun show I would probably buy 4 or 5 of them. I don't want anymore AR's but it would be nice to have them in case my future kids/grandkids want one. I don't think we will ever see a nation wide ban or confiscations, but I could see them making them a title 2 NFA weopon a real possibility which would make buying them a real expensive hassle

They come in and out od stock like that, wouldn't get worried yet, not even close.

I’m already ahead of the rush. Here are some of my extra lowers.
The best thing to do is find a dealer that will just charge you a flat fee the transfer two or four lowers, then find some on sale and order them.

Because of recent circumstances, originally I was thinking about getting a dedicated AR lower for Glock magazines to shoot 9mm or 10mm, but I don't like the idea of buying a lower that couldn't also be used for .223/5.56, say if the lower got damaged, I'd be SOL because I'm only gonna buy one Glock AR lower. I've seen some accessories that turn standard lowers into Glock mag compatible lowers and they seem to run pretty reliably and the best part is, if a lower gets damaged or worn out, I can just swap the adapter into a different lower.
