I love to find out what things people carry with them during their day. Knives, lights, guns, etc. and I don't belive I have seen such a post over here at THR. I love Bladeforums.com and enjoy reading what those folks (many of them are actually us, too) carry with them day in and day out and HOW they carry all the stuff they have listed.

How come I hafta follow Skunkabilly?

-Shirt pocket: Pilot G-2 pen (blue)
-R. front: primary key set (house, car, vol. fire dept.); knife clipped to pocket = Spyderco Rescue
-L. front: coins; lighter; secondary key set (same as primary, + 2 other FD-related keys, GF's house key, 4 grocery-store discount mini-cards trimmed to leave just the bar code and key-ring hole)
-R. rear: wallet, usually another pen
-L. rear: usually a bandana
-F.D. pager clipped to belt, usually at 9 o'clock position

-Timbuk2 messenger bag travels with me (it's black -- AHA! I DO have something tactical ). It holds a notebook, reading glasses, sunglass case, lotsa pens & pencils, book light, cheap flashlight, extra batteries, Swiss Army knife ("climber" model, bought in 1982), Nylabone and rawhide roll for Sam the Wonder Dog, sometimes manuscripts I'm working on (usually 6th to 12th Gr. math books), and Towel (remember Douglas Adams?). Electronic Thumb if I had one. Water in summertime. Chouinard carabiner on the strap.

Dang. This thread had to happen today. The day I'm not carrying.

See, I work for a government contractor. There's a no-weapons-in-the-building policy in place here.[0] Never mind that better than three quarters of the people in this office have been through background investigations that cover everything they did back to when they were 16... they still think that allowing employees to have guns will lead to shootouts in the hallways.

I usually leave my Beretta and my P32 in the car[1] in the parking lot of my building.

But not today. Why is that, BrokenPaw? Well! It's because I'm going to my customer's site today. Which is a federal installation of a particularly twitchy nature when it comes to small arms. They can (and do) search vehicles coming in. They've almost jacked me up before now because I forgot to leave my pocket knife (SOG Flash II) at the office.

Ugh. It's bad enough that when I'm dropping my daughter off at school I have to park on the street and walk her in, instead of driving up to the entrance like all of the soccer moms. But on days when I get to go to the customer site, I'm totally without (realistic) carry options.

So. My inventory for the day:
Left rear: Wallet.
Front right: Pocket knife (hope I remember to leave it).
3 o'clock: cell phone.

[0] notwithstanding the knives everyone carries, the hundreds of stabbing weapons (pens) that can be found lying around, the various instruments of blunt trauma (chairs, fire extinguishers et al) and the pepper spray that some of the secretaries carry.

At the moment:

Pen and wallet in my left rear pocket. If I told you what i Kept in my wallet, I'd be typing all day. I'll put it like this, its an inch and a half thick, and has one $20 bill in it. The pen sometimes gets stuck through my ponytail.

keyring at 4 o'clock beltloop (when the gun is there, the keys go at the 1 o'clock loop), with keys to everything but my cars (theyre kept seperate, and each car has its own keyring) and extra ponytail rings (I'm a man, and therefore dont use hairbows).

Right rear pocket has my ID badge/access card for work (with my forklift license, work number as well as a few others, and 20 bucks I never remember about untill I dont have any cash), ones (for the vending machines at work). Also typicly has my hairbrush between points A and B, if I might need it at point B. Bic lighter in the fifth pocket.

Right front pocket has loose cash, silver, car keys, and a cheap gerber. Also a tape measure while at work.

When I carry, its at 4:00-4:30.

Left front pocket contains, at the moment, nothing. I normally keep an extra mag there when I'm carrying. Though I try not to, my smokes get put in there too.

Sun/safety glasses hang from my collar.

When I'm wearing my coat, my hairbrush gets put in the outside left chest pocket, smokes in the inside left pocket, car keys go in the right side pocket, and two speedstrips for my .38 are still in the left pocket from last winter. Theres also a pocketwatch that hasnt worked in two years in a front left pocket alone (its a "biker jacket" that has three outside pockets on the left side and one on the right, for those who are wondering why I listed the extra left pocket).

Wallet, date book,more keys, ( feel like a janitor ), and Nokia cell. Not to mention vest.

Front breast pocket: 2 Zebra F-402 pens, Casio Calculator, Porter's Pocket Guide to Pediatrics.

Left front pocket: wallet, assorted coins, Bianchi Speed Strip with 5 125 gr CorBons.

Right front pocket: AA Mag light, bandage scissors, hemostats.

Right hip pocket: CRKT M16

Front pocket of fanny pack: Lots of alcohol and betadine wipes, 2 10cc saline flushes.

Back pocket of fanny pack: 3 hemostats, Sharpie pen, cheap no-name multi-tool, 2 AA batteries, Kornfield's Teachings of the Buddha, and a roll of certs that I think came with the fanny pack.

Very back pocket of fanny pack: Taurus 650.

And I mustn't forget, on the left wrist my Seiko Chronograph watch, best watch you can buy for under 5 bills.

And then there's the back pack, but even I don't know everything that's hidden in there.
