What are your favorite inexpensive handguns

In new guns, I'll add another vote to the Bersa column. I have 3 now. I just picked up a Thunder 9 HC (17+1 9mm) a couple of weeks ago. It's about $100 more than the Thunder .380 but it's a full-sized gun. (Also available in .40 S&W)

After the Bersa I'd say CZ, Ruger, Taurus, S&W Sigma

The RAP 401(9mm) and 440(.40 S&W) pistols were reasonably nice guns for about $200 new but I haven't seen any for sale in a while. Plus I don't think there is/was any customer support for them in the US.

I was just thinking the other day about a couple of pistols that I had in the past, both of which were compact .45s. The first was a Star PD--an aluminum framed pistol that was very small and handy. The other was a stainless Firestar in .45 ACP. I probably shouldn't say it, but once upon a time it kept me feeling safe in the cab of my tractor trailer in some very lonely places--loaded up with 230-grain Gold Dot +P hollowpoints from Corbon.

I don't remember the exact price I paid for either of them, but they were cheap!

P.S. - Nice quotes, Chaim!

I purchased two consecutive serial numbered TZ-75s from an estate sale for $375.00 total (for both). They had no external or internal marks of much shooting. The one I have shot, shoots sub 2" groups at 27 yards:what: ...amazingly accurate for a piece of crap....

The double action trigger is like dragging chaulk over a cheese grater. The tool marks on the frame inside and out are so deep, and the roughness of the trigger draw mechanisms is so crude, it would take forever to polish up. I did however, take it apart and used an 800, 1000 then 2000 grit stone to the hammer and sear. The single action pull is very nice.

My S/W 3953 DAO. Carries well. Eats every JHP on the planet, and a good friend of mine from the S/W academy, hooked me up with a LE salesman sample with brand new Novak nite sights for $200. That was about 10 years ago. It still gets carried every day, and fired every month. A pity Smith drops such a tool from their product line.

I like my Taurus model 905 a good bit. A snubby 5-shot steel revolver chambered in 9mm. Not a braggin' gun, but it does everything I care for it to do...ride in my pocket all day every day...and shoot reliably and accurately every time I pull the trigger. And at $220 NIB, I am very satisfied (so satisfied, in fact, I bought two!)

My Makarov is by far my favorite inexpensive "Regular" purchase.

I guy did owe me fifty bucks one time and could not pay me back so he gave me a FEG .45 "Hi Power" copy to cover the money owed and it is an interesting gun and it is a favorite to throw lead with.

Those are the only two "Inexpensive" guns I own. And the Colt's make fun of them in the safe.....:)
