What can you tell me about this taurus 82?

As we know this is how Taurus 82s look now.

http://taurususa.com/products/produc...egory=Revolver

The one I am looking at is used and looks like model 10s. I have a S&W 10 already but I like almost any DA revolver (only meant to get one now I have 3 )

I Found a pic like the one I am talking about on gun broker.

Now here is the question!

I hear how terrible older Taurus revolvers were and I guess this is an old one because it is not like the pic at the Taurus web site....So does any have one like this?

Is it a reliable revolver that I should buy right now? Or a jamomatic POJ I should run away from while screaming?

Looks like your bread and butter S&W model 10 knock-off. My experiences with Taurus revolvers have been quite good. The one in the auction you posted looks to be a nickel plate (which I've seen as a factory offering). Frankly if this is the one you're looking at, I'd pass. That's $240 and too much IMO. There are several stainless models for sale. Why don't you try something with adjustable sights like the 66?

The quality of Taurus revolvers has actually improved over the years. My dad had a very early one (the cylinder flutes were grooved). Shot it loose in a few hundred rounds. I put a few thousand rounds through my 85 that I bought in 1990 and it was still tight when I traded it some years later on something I wanted more.

I know

I know it is too much but that is not the one I am looking at. I want go with fixed sites because I don’t like adjustable site on a hand gun (I don’t know why...they just bother me:uhoh: )

So does any one have info about these older ones here?

I don't plan to pay over $200 for a used one.

I would like to go for the old one because I like older revolvers. This is the first time I considered purchasing one that is still made (well the 10 is but it does not have the classic look any more:fire: ) but I doubt any one cares about my collection:rolleyes: So I will shut up about that.

Also I also saw a dan wesson 14 at the local shop. How would it do against the tauri?

Dan Wesson revolvers are far, far superior to Taurus. My father had one. For many years, it was a gun that was taken every time. I believe my father's was a 15. It was unbelieveably accurate, coming very close to my dad's special built PPC revolver. Had adjustable sights and a full underlug. Barrels are super easy to replace. You could change the shrouds to suit you also. The blue finish on this gun was nothing short of incredible.
