What did you cast up today

Went out to the shed to do some casting today and fought with my NOE 360-158-WFN-T4 HP PB mould for far too long before I decided that it needed a better scrubbing. I just kept dropping wrinkled bullets. So I set it aside to cool and cast up some SC311-171-RF-I3, 360-182-WFN-U2 & 460-396-AE2 while I waited. Not much, just some to add to the cans to be coated later.

After I got the 158gr re-cleaned I went to town and cast about 9lbs of acceptable bullets.

Those are super nice, is the hollowpoint functional or just for accuracy. Do you tune for a bhn and tin content for better expansion at your accuracy load?...

Honestly I just got the 158gr & 180gr for .357 in HP because I wanted the option. And I've been casting with the HP pins in because I wanted to figure that out first since people say that casting HPs are tougher but honestly they haven't been as much trouble as I was expecting. The main thing I have found to keep them coming out good is to just heat the mould a little longer before starting and like my non HP moulds is just to make sure the flow from the pot is good and get it right down the sprue plate hole.

I'm currently using range scrap that I bought and I'm adding 95/5 SN/SB solder in a ratio of about 3.5oz per 20lbs. I imagine they would expand pretty well but I'm not sure I'll ever find out. I don't really have a place to even shoot in to water jugs that isn't an hour away.

I plan on trying out the HPs in the .357 Henry and if they shoot good I'll just keep casting them at way, save some lead. If not I'll switch over to the flat point pins and see how it goes.

I think my casting days are over. Just can't get decent lead anymore to make it worth while and too many companies are making good quality bullets at a fair price for me to take the time and cast bullets.
I still have some lead but I think I will just keep it on the chance I get another muzzle loader. Then I may cast some for it.
You guys that are still casting, my hats off to you, and carry on.
You know, some time I feel the same way when. I can't get it right. But it's interesting...

Nothing lately but I’m getting my bench organized and recently unwrapped my new Lee 20# dip pot.
Couple new moulds to try, a Lee .312-165 for my 7.7 Jap and as a single loaded trial in an old micro groove Marlin.
Need some 45-70 bullets and some 311291.

The noe mold I got drops .312 165s. I got it for 308 but it's going home to California for arisaka duty....
