What did you shoot today?

Picked up a 1919 Remington Model 51, 380 ACP at Cabelas in the Library; nice condition, most of original bluing, good bore, little rust. My sole purposes was to use up $328 in points before we close that CC and I accomplished it. They wanted $699, I asked them for a better price, took it for $600 and tax, so I ended up paying $326 out of pocket along with those points. Brought it home, lubed it, put 20 rounds through it, then disassembled and cleaned it well and put it up for another 100 years.

Checked POI with a few loads on a couple of revolvers I picked up this week...686-6 and SP101 .38 French Police trade-in.

Also had an unfired Model 19-3 Texas Ranger commemorative that I had just picked up at the gun show with me...haven't decided if I'm going to put rounds through it yet.

Yesterday I tried a couple loads using TAC and 55BTs in my little Rem M7 in .223. I also tried a scratch load in my .260R using PPU 120 HPBTs that I plan on using for practice and will work up a "real" load once the barrel is done with break in. It shows promise; 4rds into .467 and the 5th ( I screwed it up) went into .935:

Today I did some tripod work resting off a bag at 150 yds:

Shot my M1 Garand. I was going to take my Lee-Enfield, then discovered I only had 10 rounds of .303 left in the rifle ammo box. But it's been even longer for my Garand, so it was good shooting that instead. A friend also let me shoot a few rounds through his M1 Carbine and that experience definitely confirmed that rifle's position near the top of my wanna list.

As a result of frustration from working on my taxes and finding my estimated tax payments were way short of what's going to be due I had to make some noise and punch some holes in paper targets to take my mind off it and so shot a couple boxes of expensive .357 Magnum with my S&W 66-1:

10 yds two-handed (lower left) and
7 yds one-handed (upper right)

... 'cuz to pay the tax man I probably won't be able to afford .357 Magnum for awhile.

On the linked video the fantasy "battle rifle" stuff ends about 4:35.
The guy's actual range video begins after that. The max. distance (in my life) has only consisted of several shots on a 400-yard gong, last week.

A friend spotted with binoculars because the echoing "Ding" is not always easy to hear during the violent ejection noises under a small roof, bouncing steel cases etc.

Mine consist of this "GI" version of the PTR-91, along with the A3SK, bought weeks before the GI.

Sun was out, and temps near 60 sent me to the club this morning to play with a few guns. Was in one of the pistol ranges that goes out to 30 yards. Put 50 rounds of 22LR through the H-001 Henry lever gun and 78 rounds of the same through the Ruger Single 6. Just plinking and busting clay birds. Went through 71 rounds of 357 Magnum in the Ruger Blackhawk mostly on paper plates. But most importantly; the 870 12 ga. slug gun got zeroed with the Leupold 1-4x scope it received over the winter. Set it up with the collimator and it had me on the paper with the first shot. Got it zeroed in the way I wanted it in another 9 rounds, currently a tad high at 30 yards and next time I'm on the rifle range it will get checked at 50 yds. and zeroed at 100 yds. Sure was fun with the nice weather. Good to see some blue sky & green grass again. Can't wait for spring even though they are calling for some more cold & snow this weekend. IMG_4771.JPG ... My buddy brought over his 350 Legend to shoot. Neat little AR and that is a cool cartridge. He got a deer with it last season.
Unfortunately, we got caught up in the work he's helping me with plus it's just too danged wet and cold here still.
Maybe tomorrow after we sand and paint some drywall..? o_O

They all shoot Eley Match and Eley CMP bulk well...but only the Remington shoots Eley best. Both TC's handled Federal AutoMatch and some old Federal CMP bulk stuff best. Hey @NIGHTLORD40K , my 52 likes Aguila SV best too, followed by CCI Quiets.

That 18" barrel sure looks short though.
Im almost out of Eley now, so I didnt shoot any the other day, but it shoots great in my 52 as well.

I went to the range today to shoot my Springfield M6 Scout, with both .22 LR and .410. The .22 rifle peep sight is fixed elevation, zeroed at 100 yards.
With .410 x 70mm Barnaul aluminum case with #2 shot I got a respectable pattern at 10 yds, but it opened up a bit at 20yds.

Had a short work day and had some errands to run for the wife and picked up my 15yo brother and asked him if he wanted to ride with me on the errands and he didn't know but I brought my G44 along with a 222rd box of .22lr and took him out the trail to do some shooting. My brothers love to shoot and are just starting to learn about guns and stuff from me and they always get excited to shoot stuff they recognize from Call of Duty. The questions my youngest brother asks are quite comical, every question is framed up in the context of a video game and I have to remind him of reality, he's kind of a gaming nerd and doesn't really know guns as most of my shooting has been with his older brother thus far, but I'll get the kid straightened out.....

Test fired my new to me Swedish Mauser short rifle and my surplus Chinese SKS, along with my Mosin 91/30 and a Type 99 Arisaka. Tried to spend the time just making sure I was at least getting on the paper and seeing where to hold. Tried the Type 99 to 100 yards. Took me awhile to figure out that I need to hold to the bottom of the target. The Mauser sights start at 250 meters so I had to hold it a little low but windage was good. SKS was dirty and throwing grease for awhile and sweating it out. 20220327_121814.jpg 20220327_123530.jpg 20220327_130024.jpg 20220327_115950.jpg

I shot my Walther ( Colt Gold Cup Trophy ) today along with my S&W 617 at our outdoor range North of Phoenix. I've been playing with the trigger, trying to get it better than the stock 9 pounds so I replaced the Hammer, Sear and Sear Spring with a kit from Cylinder & Slide.

That made for a much better action around 4 pounds but I experienced a lot of hammer follow from time to time. I took it apart when I got home and formed the second finger on the Sear Spring to give it more tension which should help but also found it needed cleaning after about 500 rounds. The trigger wouldn't reset because there was too much powder residue there.

I have to wait until Wednesday to check it out again and I'm hoping for the best.
