Went to the range pretty early. I shot my Ruger Mk. 2 with bull barrel and my Quasi-semi-not quite .303 Jungle Carbine. The carbine is a SMLE made at Lithgow (Aussieland)in 1942. In the late eighties Navy Arms removed the normal barrels from these rifles and replaced them with Jungle Carbine type shorter barrels with the conical flash hider. I bought one of these back then at the Navy Arms retail outlet in Ridgefield, NJ. I havent shot it for 20 years until today due to the insane new .303 prices. I got the inspiration to shoot the commercially modified war horse. I found some PPU FMJ-BT rounds and let off ten. Accuracy was OK, but not great. The Mk. II actually gave me some trouble today! It was definately the ammo. I brought a box of Norma USA .22LR Lead Target ammo. I know its normal for manufacturers to put a waxy substance on lead-nosed .22 target ammo, but Norma went too far with it and I was getting jams and my fingers were all gooey. I had some loose .22 in my range bag, mostly Federal bulk-pack and it shot fine, so it wasn't the gun. I'm going to studiously avoid that particular Norma product from now on.
