What do people do with full size revolvers?

I must admit, I've wondered this myself. I have a 4" King Cobra I bought twenty or so years ago when there was no hope of my getting a concealed carry permit. It was a home defense gun and I took it to the range a few times.

However, it doesn't meet my current needs, so I'll probably put it on Gunbroker if there ever comes a time there aren't a million of them already listed.

Who? Me? About what everyone is asking on GB and getting zero bids. If It's not worth that, I'll just keep it.

I do appreciate it, Guillermo, but I'm actually undecided. If you're really interested in a KC, there's always a BUNCH on Gunbroker.

Point was, that's the designed purpose of the 4-6" K frame. Might not think they have a purpose now days, question being what are they good for. Well, they were great duty guns, what they were designed for. May have seen their day, but they're still formidable as a duty weapon. But, I don't know if even armed security guards carry revolvers anymore.

...well...My N framed revolvers are a hell of a lot easier for me to carry concealed than any of the 5 1911's I own...at least for me.

I also carry either a .500 Linebaugh or a .475 Linebaugh when Im out in the boonies. Even those are somewhat easier than my 1911's.

I still qualify a 4" S&W model 19 and carry it concealed off duty from time to time. It will solve most problems I might encounter in town or in the woods. A 6" 586 came deer hunting with me in heavy brush.

I love a nice revolver.
There's just something very cool about them.

Having said that....

I really have no need for a large frame revolver.
And I certainly would never carry one on my side.
They're just too big, too heavy, and too bulky for a mere 5-to-8 shots.
If I'm going to carry a large frame handgun, it's going to have at least 15 rounds capacity.

Light-weight snubbies are fine, but I just have no use for a large revolver.

Do you carry your S&W 646 as your duty weapon?

No, but I like to carry it off duty. I carry the L-Comp on duty but usually when I know I'm not going to be working around the water and mud. I'm not worried about the gun so much as the leather.:)

Excellent weapons for concealed carry, like my 3" custom GP-100 in a Tucker Texas Heritage,

or even my custom 4" Redhawk in a DeSantis OWB Holster for field carry.

There is nothing wrong with revolvers of any size. I like the ability to have the power of a .357 magnum at my fingertips. I will say this though. Alot of dudes here have said some pretty stupid stuff about autos. Some one called it a bullet hose, etc. etc. you know all the complaints. Just because a weapon is used incorrectly, for fun or whatever, doesn't make it a bad gun. I remember stories of idiots using loaded revolvers as hammers to put nails in. That doesn't make a revolver a stupid weapon. The auto has it's place and it does its job well lets at least recognize that before I get the geriatrics ward in here having a heart attack over this thread.

I carried a 5” M-27 on a gun belt for years backed up by an M-60. When I ended up in investigations I carried a 2 ½” M- 66 backed by the same M-60, and neither ever failed me. Years later I still carry a wheel gun and feel very well armed.

No matter how well made any auto-loader my be it is still a tool, nothing more nothing less. Now an S&W N frame is the height of the metal workers art.

I'm 23, and I'm a big revolver guy. I have a 6" stainless full underlug GP100 i use for deer. Some 180gr soft point .357's do the job nicely. I also have a Model 13 I bought just because it's 35+ years old and in 99% condition. Could a 10mm auto do the same job? most likely, but it wouldnt have the class.
