What do y'all think about this?

reviews are hard to find on these. I know the remington 799 was the same gun basically so I'll start there.

Theoretically, yes it'll be more accurate. But, what're your applications?

I've a mini Mauser in .223, and it smokes ARs accuracy-wise all day long. But, it's a hunting/target gun. Not an uber fun plinker or SD gun. It doesn't have the capacity or rate of fire that a semi possesses.

If you're looking for a plinker, something modular, that can lay down some serious lead at mid range with battle accuracy, get an Arsenal, Saiga, or a VZ for sure. But, wanna punch holes in paper, yotes, or deer? The mini is where it's at bro!:)

I just want a good gun for my ranch truck that' s cheap to shoot and I am on target quicker with a good bolt gun than I am with others. We have hogs on our neighbors and coyotes constantly threaten our sheep. I also want something I can plink with.

Then look no further than that Mini. They're light, good pointing, and look good while doing it. That's not a bad price either. If you're looking to put down predators and put some pork on the Barbie, that Mini with good glass will do great.

I usually carry my 22-250 but want to keep it a dedicated calling gun rather than knocking it around in my truck. I hope I can get one of these mini's.

I had a 223 version of this that someone converted to 300 blackout, it's a good gun, but the bolt handle is too small.

Meanmrmustard, I don't think you can say that it's more accurate then a AR, I've seen ARs that have sub 1 MOA groups hell mine does 1-1.5 and I'm not trying to make it super accurate, I'd call them even if anything not better not worse. I will give you that a standard M4 clone could be easily smoked by a bolt gun but freefloated with a nice barrel an AR is hard to beat.

I build my own ar's and all will literally put 5 shots into a half inch at 100 yards if I do my part.

I'll take that challenge. Mines bedded and with whatever ammo the Mini likes, I'll best an AR with floated barrel ammo of your choosing. You are also neglecting the x-factor: the shooter. Sub-MOA for a Mini with the right ammo is quite easily done.

We should post target pics. My rifle is indisposed till next weekend, but there's no shelf life on accuracy.

Sorry, I didn't read your stuff about the mini hadn't gotten that far, I was talking about semi vs bolt guns, minis are a lot more accurate then people say, I hear guys talk bad about the mini 14 all day long but those same guys will praise am m1 or m14 national match, so obviously there isn't anything wrong with the platform, not to mention I've seen a gov. Barrel mini do a head shot at 400 yards, but they are" inaccurate" lmao. PS I'd love to swap pics, I have one I could take a pic of tonight I'll go see if I can find it.

Sorry. I was talking about the Mini Mauser, not Mini 14.
I'm also NOT arguing any bolt vs any AR. I'm saying MINE vs any AR I've owned or shot, some quite good. But not as good as my MM.

For a truck/ranch gun, I really like the 7.62x39. It's got the power, and lacks recoil needed by a small rifle that may get fired from a lousy position. A few of those come from time to time, when things need to happen in a hurry. ie; coyotes don't ALWAYS pose and wait...lol.
I would NEVER chose one of the black guns for the purpose. I defend YOUR right to choose whichever you will, but I won't. The choice boils down to a Mini14, or one of the bolt guns...Mini-Mauser or CZ.
One of these with a small low-power scope would carry so easy that you may even forget it's with you, until you need it...then it's there with the power and accuracy that gets the job done.
A mini14 is alright, but I would rasp a couple pounds off and change a few of the angles for better handling.
My choice would be the Zastava. I'm a bolt-gun man, but the Mini-Mauser is hard to beat, under ANY circumstances,
Have fun'

Cool, I asked my lgs and they can't get them. It's a big gun shop, but somehow they never have what I want.

Could put an ad out for a used one.

Wouldn't want mine, it's .223 rem. It's Zastava, and quite the accurate devil!

For a couPle hundred dollars more, you could get a cz 527. They are proven great rifles. But if you want a truck gun the zastava is probably a good bet. 7.62x39 in a bolt gun is a good, versatile, and effective combo.
