Here's my first poll!

OK, here we are in mid-February 2009. Obama is the President, Congress is utterly controlled by the Democrats, Holder is the AG, the antis are salivating in anticipation of the time when they can put together another AWB and other legislation. So, you have a few magazine-fed guns chambered for standard military calibers (5.56mm, 7.62x51, 7.62x39, 9mm, .45, as examples), and $1,000.00 to buy things.

What do you buy first (and then tell everyone else why)?

Freakshow, let's assume that you enter a store, or an online site, and you can buy whatever you'd like, up to $1,000.00 in total cost.

If you can get them "off paper" buy more guns ... otherwise I think stocking up on ammo and magazines would be the best idea at this point.

Usually I don't buy guns on a whim. If I'm in the mood to look for one, I might get one but not usually.

I'd probably split the $1,000 up between brass, bullets, and components. Some shotgun hulls, wads, or shot if they have some. Probably pick up several hundred rounds of .22 rimfire ammo. I don't shoot factory other than .22 LR.

I've got about 50 of every mag for every gun I own and a few more for guns on the list if I come across them. After the federal AWB sunset, I started stocking up on mags. I've got several hundred mags so I think I'm good for my lifetime.

1st Magazines- 'cause what good is a new gun without magazines?

2. A new Gun: My second 5.56 AR.

3. A new Gun: My third 5.56 AR.

4. A new Gun: My first .308 AR- See #1 above!

5. My back up rifle- lever action 30-30- not a targeted AW or a Targeted "sniper rifle"

6. My First revolver - 7 shots of .357 mag. as opposed to my 3 Autoloading 9mm Targeted pistols.

7. A diesel tractor with an auger. Don't ask- don't tell.

Oops- All along, lots of match grade ammo- for when you care enough to send the very best...

I chose ammo, I know it is hard to find now, and overpriced, but I have enough guns, to meet my own personal needs for protecting my family. I just don't think I have enough ammo. Granted if the SHTF, there is the possibility of picking up weapons and ammo from the battlefield, or hijacking supply trucks, I'm not sure I have enough to get to that point yet.

My tastes have changed, so now it's black powder (just got 20lbs today) primers, lead, and something to cast balls and bullets.

Reloading components and ammo in that order, I'll run it though what I have now.

If you think there will be AWB II in the works, buy up the usual suspects - military style weapons and all magazines with greater than 10 round capacity for rifles and handguns.

I think there's at least a fair chance that this will happen.

The wingnuts in DC have got a nasty surprise baked and ready. Add blood from one "mass" shooting, and it'll be ready to serve. All you BO voters, thanks-not. Joe

You have $1000 to buy stuff. What do you want to do?

Are you prepping for an emergency? Competition? General shooting? $1000 can buy a bunch of gear or just get you started with reloading.

A new Turbo so I can put my Shelby Daytona back on the road. My daily driver is a '78 Aspen coupe with a 440; highway fuel economy is about 12.5 MPG. Fuel prices are headed back up, and that car is gonna kill me with a 40 mile daily commute.

I would buy ammo and reloading components, I bought the guns I wanted 8 months ago when prices were low.
