What do you do with hollow points when you move in NJ?

You can't use them on people, especially inside your home. What a drag, because the first thing I think of when I see Hornady TAP is what grudges do I want to satisfy /END Sarcasm.

What do you do with hollow points when you move in NJ?

PM me your address, I'll be more than happy to send you a UPS call tag...
and take that ammo off your hands:)

In the 1990's I moved a couple if blocks.
Didn't have any hollow points, but had to surrender my purchaser's ID to get a replacement with new address. Took about 5 months even though the old card was less than 2 years old.

Could not buy a rifle and was afraid to go to the range for 5 months.

Had to check a box asking if the replacement card was due to change of address, name or gender.
Happy to report I was and remain a guy.

Dont worry about it. Drive from your old house to your new house directly and store them in the trunk concealed. If you get pulled over DO NOT offer any information about guns or ammunition in your vehicle and tell the officer that you are sorry but you do not consent to searches (if they ask to search your car). Obviously it helps if you are not drunk, high, or committing serious vehicular offenses which leads up to getting you stopped. :)

I've made a few thousand .357 magnum reloaded hollow points in NJ and shoot them all the time. Heck I even keep em loaded up for SD purposes at my residence.

Dont get tricked!

Absolutely amazing. Law abiding people trying to figure out how to dance to the King's stupid music. If the Founding Fathers could see us now, they would be ashamed of us.

Yea, All because 1, and I repeat ONE stinkin area of NJ (Jersey City) decides what the rest of us do. South Jersey has a relatively high concentration of gun owners and gun rights activists, but North Jersey stomps us out every stinkin time.

Not exactly correct. It's because the gun owners in the rest of the state don't bother to vote.

If even half of all gun owners voted regularly our country, and NJ, would change dramatically. I suppose most of them are too busy watching 'American Idol' re-runs.

The Pigger is on the money. So many of us stand by and watch others fight for our rights.

Perhaps someone can comment, are Nosler style ballistic tipped bullets hollow point in this case or not?

Where do copper frangible bullets fall in this debate.

Thanks.

The NJ law against "hollow point bullets" has to be the single most exemplarly example of bureaucratic stupidity ever enacted ! It flies in the face of every known law of Newtonian physics and several hundred years' ballistics experience ! But it addressed the state's prevailing political demagoguery by confining its impact to the rural areas - which were predominantly Republican - while affording ample opportunity to prosecute targeted "offenders" at whim !

From a practical standpoint:

If you're shooting at pests near livestock over penetration/ricchotte is a concern addressed by hollow points as are humane kills on light-bodied pests with low powered cartridges commonly employed in this application.

For a long time "hollow points" were/are the preferred profile for target shooting due to their consistency and accuracy in centerfire !

For LEOs wearing body armor hollow points are far less likely to penetrate it than a solid nose projectile.

But since when have the hoplophes ever let science/reality ever influenced a cabal of politicians ? >MW

It seems that NJ is proof that England has liberal gun ownership laws
Oh no no no. We can still have 15 round mags and as many long guns as we want provided they aren't on the ban list or have more than 2 evil features. Yea it sucks, but our house isn't being surprise inspected on the police's whim and we can buy as much legal ammo as we want without a SWAT team breaking down our door. Please, Jersey is bad, but comparing us to England is insulting.

I think I'm going to make a sign for my front door:

This house is protected by the 2nd and 4th Amendments of the Constitution of the United States of America.

You would think NJ would want all bullits to be hollow point. They willl not go through bullitproof vest, and most of the time the stay in the person you are shooting and don't have to worry as much about down range.

It is a little early so bear with me. Do you have a roommate, girlriend or wife and what is your relationship with them? What if they get upset with you (wives are really bad about this during a divorce) and drop a dime to the local police?

I don't feel that FMJ and lead bullets are much of a disadvantage but I believe bullet placement is everything. Based on my limited understanding of N.J. laws I would not mess with owning JHP's.

Maybe not it just seems like it to us that live in states without restricitions.

This is Jersey. Having any type of authority means that you automatically lack the ability to logically process thoughts.

Yea, but we are still subject to a real constitution, not the joke piece of paper the English call "rights." Ever read it? It looks more like a "you can't do" list...

As far as HP's go, you can still use soft points so the HP restriction really only hurts handgun ammo... It stinks but there are still better options...

Actually it started in the '30's with the handgun permit system and FID card scam. NJ is the birthplace of skirting the Constitution.

EDIT: It actually started in 1987, with the first major infringement in 1924. Citation: when-did-new-jersey-become-so-anti-gun/

New Jersey is far from the birthplace of skirting the Consitution. "Big" Tim Sullivan of New York enacted New York's "might, maybe, if you are lucky and connected" pistol permit system in 1911. Easy year to remember. He enacted the pistol permit because he was a mob/gang boss and his hoodlums were complaining that they were getting shot at by immigrants when trying to hustle them. The pistol permit system disarmed his law abiding victims making it easier for his gangs to continue business.
