What do you listen to when you reload?

Yup, I listen to the press, the low primer buzzer, not the wife...lol, no distractions.

Usually talk radio and lately since I find myself reloading in the middle of the day - Dr. Laura.

It's light to listen to in the background, not distracting and keeps me company.

I've thought about finding her email and telling her, I'm sure she'd get a kick out of knowing. LOL! :)

I like talk radio, country music, or a football game when I'm doing "non-critical" parts of the operation. (Trimming, inspecting cases, even resizing) I tend to do my operations in batches of 100. (Resize, trim, Prime, etc) I find that where I want absolute concentration is when I'm doing the powder charges (and seating bullets). For the rest I don't worry so much about distractions.

Just my .02

Regards,
Dave

I understand that some think anything is destracting from reloading.

I find that if I have some music on in the background ( I am not talking blast out the neighbors) I will pay more attition. It is just me but the ringing in my ears gets so bad at times I have to have some kind of background noise to cover it up.

NOTHING! Other than the sound the press makes. Oh yes, it talks to you. It's language is metallic, the sounds become rhythmic. If something happens to interrupt that rhythm, it usually will result in a bad shell. In other words, it should sound the same each time.

+1 for Snuffy

Except I occasionally listen to my wife complain that I am spending too much time reloading and not enough time on the honey-doos!

if ive got enouph room for a stereo then id better go out and buy more bullets to take up the space.

When charging and seating bullets, absolutely nothing.

I would prep brass in front of the TV, but my 18 month old son wouldn't stay out of the way, so I do all reloading in the garage. The only sounds are the tumbler if going, the chunk-chunk of the press, and me talking to myself. :D

I've normally get the little clock radio/CD player going at low volume.

Depends on the mood/time of day:
Talk radio
Classic Rock
Classical (Nothing like reloading to Orff's Carmina Burana) especially if my daughter is reloading with me. :D

noise

some people seem to need noise in back ground,my wife is one.me I once had friend with me when I was loading for a match.45 acp.got to match and disaster. I handled the slowfire but knew the timed was going to be bad.first relay 2 duds roded bullet knew I was done found good box ammo and loaded 8 rds.I could they were counting in their minds 12345678.nothing was said,BUT.rest of match was all right.never allowed myself to be distracted again.YOU COULD DOUBLE CHARGE IS IT WORTH IT.:uhoh:-----:D

NOTHING! Distractions while reloading can = bad things
+1.

On top of that, the sound the press makes will change sometimes if something is wrong. if you are not paying attention to it, you could miss that.

Nothing.

It's meditation for me, the din and noise of life is relegated to the world beyond the 4 walls of my garage.

I like loading more than shooting.

I'm not 'not paying attention'.

I can concentrate better with background noise, and often listen to talk radio or the news. No double charges, no squibs no basement-shop explosions....

;)

plinking and handgun ammo, i listen to steve vai ( the greatest guitar player ever btw) or yngwie malmsteen the sweedish sensation!

but if i am reloading precision rifle rds on my rock chucker then i have no distractions.
