I only use .357 cases in my Desert Eagles.

Two loads for .357 revolvers. About 75% lighter loads over the hotter loads.
Either 2.7 grs. of Bullseye with Speer's HBWC or 3.0 grs. with Lyman's 495 WC loaded in .38 Special cases.
Hotter loads also use (good condition) .38 Special cases with 13.5 grs. of 2400 under the Thompson GC seated to the second crimp groove.

The shorter cases eject much more positively (I only have Colts) and 25 yd. impact of the 2400 load is a little over an inch below the Bullseye loads.
No concerns about putting the hotter .38 cases in a light small frame .38, as there is no mistaking the Thompson bullet
when loaded out, so they are only shot in a .357 or a Colt SAA.

.44 Magnum revolvers are 100% magnum
24 gr. of 4227 with the 429421 cast 15/1.

This thread got me thinking.

I shoot mostly mid range loads in my .41 and .44 mag revolvers. Same for my .454 Casull Freedom Arms, mostly 1000 to 1100 fps loads with 260 - 325 gr slugs.
In my .357 mags I shoot FAR more .38 cast bullet loads than mags.

Yet in my autos I shoot almost exclusively factory duplicate ammo. From the .380 to 9mm/.357 sig and 10mm . With the exception of one of my 1911's as it's a dedicated wadcutter gun, so light loads with 200 gr H&G #68 cast slug loads.

What amazed me, when I REALLY thought about just WHAT I load and shoot...I shoot revolvers quite a bit , same for .45 auto....I can't barely recall the last time I shot a JACKETED slug from them. I load a LOT of CAST slugs.

All magnum loads in the .44 Super Blackhawk. The only .44 special casings I have are a few range pickups that I have not yet used.

In .357, the ratio is about 80% magnums to 20% .38 special rounds. I don't beat my guns up with max loads, but I don't baby them either.

Thought about picking up a .38 revolver just to be able to use more of the .38 brass I have lying around. ;)

I shoot mostly mouse fart wadcutter loads in my .357's and .38's. probably 90% of the time. Some .357's I own haven't had a single magnum level load through them since I purchased them.
My .44 mag Super Redhawk gets full house loads 100% of the time, and my Astra Terminator .44 mag gets 95% .warm 44 special loads

I like mouse fart wadcutter loads because they are cheap, brass lasts forever, and the mouse fart wadcutters do the exact same thing to paper and steel as the magnum rounds...hit it and leave a mark or make a noise.
The SRH is scoped and sighted in for magnum level loads, so that's all it gets
The Astra is hard to get parts for and can't be worked on once it goes out of time, so I don't push it hard.

I pretty much load all of my magnums like, well, magnums. My favorite factory offering for the .44 Magnum is Double Tap's 320 grain WFN loading. Accurate and terminally effective.

My .357 mostly gets fairly light .38 special target loads. My .41 magnum mostly gets warm - but far back off of max - loads.

That's pretty much me, too. I load full-house 9mm and 45ACP loads with jacketed (or plated) FMJ, but mid-level revolver loads. The revolvers get an almost steady diet of cast, for that matter, I've been weaning myself off jacketed bullets in my leverguns, too.

I don't shoot magnum loads anymore since I sold my rifle.

The nice thing about magnums is I can use load data for specials and I can't tell the difference in a magnum case.

For the most part, I see no point in shooting my field guns with loads that would not be effective in the field. So my .44Mag's see mostly one load that works well for practice, plinking and field use, a 240-250gr SWC at 1100-1200fps. Dedicated hunting guns which never fill the role of "sidearm" get nothing but hunting loads. If I want to shoot .44Spl's, I shoot a .44Spl.

So none of the poll options really fit my situation.

Mostly .38 spl in my old K frame, a few rounds .357 mag now and then.

Last weekend plinking with my brother and dad and by brother had some 44 Mag loaded up with a heavy charge of H110 under a 180gr bullet. Normally I shoot 240gr in my M92 but those 180gr were a very nice load. Probably north of 2000 fps from my M92 and they rang the gong with authority The flames thrown with that H110 in my brother ported revolver where impressive.

I have had my Taurus 669CP since 1995. She has been fed approximately 70% .medium .38 specials and 30% .357 magnums. It' probably more like 20% magnums. Once I started hand loading I started shooting more .357 cases but I still don't load very many full house .357s. Most are my cast load with unique, a lead 158 and a .357 case. Almost all of my .38s are bullseye and 125 or 158 lead. I shoot A LOT of .38s through the Taurus and the Rossi 92 but the Dan Wesson has gotten mostly .357s. It rarely gets shot though.

I shoot a lot of light loads in .357 brass in my .357 Mag. I shoot nothing but full power .44 Mag in my .44 Mag Redhawk. I shoot .44 Spl in my .44 Spl. If I did not have a .44 Spl, I might shoot light loads in .44 mag brass in my Redhawk. Dunno for sure.

For me it depends on the gun. If it's nice and heavy I enjoy shooting magnums. If it's light I mostly stick to specials.

Only one magnum revolver and it is a 681 S&W that gets fed my handloads. H110 are full power 2400 are about middle range all in mangum brass.

Prolly the most correct option would be midrange loads but it really depends on which magnum revolver we're talking about. My Redhawk and GP100 see nothing but full tilt heavies. My Smith 29 gets the Keith practice load 240 SWC with 10.0gr of unique. The 686, python and SP101 mostly get a midrange load 158@1000fps and the snub M19 and Speed Six get 145gr silvertips or a similarly loaded handload with 140 XTPs.

I hunt with a revolver and load for hunting. Now days most of my hunting is white tail deer so the loads do not need to be full mag, but since I carry what I hunt with and want the round to go where I point I just load hunting loads.
