My father just bought a Bersa Thunder 380 thats in perfect condition for $225.
I know nothing about Bersa. does anyone have/had one of these? are they jam-o-matics? or reliable? whats your take on them.

I have the Bersa .380 Thunder Del with the 9+1 clip. Great pistol. I have had jamming problems but I'm sure it's due to a defective clip. Very accurate and addicting at the range. As I look at mine right now, I see the clip is different. The clip that came with mine is flush with the back end of the butt. (I think yours is a different model) I know several people who own Bersa Thunder .380's and they all love them. As far as I know, I'm the only person who's ever had a jamming problem. I think your Father will enjoy the gun. It's extremely fun to shoot, but the .380acp rounds can get very scarce around here sometimes.

thanks for the info. I reload and havent gone without ammo as of yet, i can always find it somewhere and have plenty of brass, primers, and powder.

I have one I think this is a must for everyone. It is a blast to shoot, fairly accurate, lightweight, and after thousands of rounds, mine has never failed. I can't believe how inexpensive these guns are.

Some ? this round for self defense, and though there are more potent rounds out there, this round out of this gun will work.

Your dad is gonna have so much fun with this gun, you'll be getting one for yourself soon.

Mine is very accurate and malfuction free, nickel sized groups in rapid fire at 21ft. Well worth the $200 I paid for it a few years ago. I'm sure I have fired over 2000 rounds out of it. There was a time when .380 was abundant and cheap so I would by 2-3 cases of ( russian ) .380 and 9mm luger everytime the gun show came to town.

They are very much under rated. I carried a Walther PP for years,...and it was and is a great gun. The Bersa isn't a Walther,...but dollar for dollar,..the Bersa .380 fill's that niche VERY well. I have the Firestorm variation of it,..virtually the same gun though,...in .22LR and .380,..and a 45 ACP Ultra Compact,...I carry them all at one time or another,...all shoot pretty much everything I feed them,...I only use them with the CORRECT proprietary mags,....and I have never had an issue with any of the three. I have been offered more than I paid for them,..but won't sell them. Extra mags are pricey,..but,..anymore,...they all are. for $ 225 you got a decent buy,...now go find some ammo and shoot it. You'll like it.

I have to give a more mixed review of the BT380 and 380cc. Both of mine had lots of initial problems that were eventually resolved. After the issues were corrected, both guns have been uterly reliable.

Both my wife and I have the Thunder 380. They are reliable, accurate, and a great value. Both of them have a couple of thousand rounds thru them without a problem.

Bersas

Bersa .380's are good guns. Mine has been great. If you pick up a new one, give it a good cleaning. They are shipped to the US in some kind of nasty preservative that makes them jam if not cleaned out completely. Also, I hear they don't like Russian steel-cased ammo. They also don't like Fiochhi ammo because of the length of the cartridge. Mine shoots Federals and Remingtons quite nicely.

this is my third bersa .380

It is great and actually shoots very straight for such a short barrel.

Supported, I've had hit an 8 inch plate at 100 yards.

that is accurate.

With a little practice, I've come to shoot it almost as good as my 1911.

I have had 2 for about 10 years now. Totally reliable, and there is always one in the car or being carried even thouugh I may have a Glock handy.

Bersas are among the best (if not the best) pistols for the money
Lifetime warranty, feature packed and +P rated

Very happy owner of a Bersa Thunder 40 full size here.

They also don't like Fiochhi ammo because of the length of the cartridge.

Mine likes the fiochhi ammo. Before the ammo shortage that is all I shot in it. Not a single problem.
