It’s been many years since I shot skeet. Kinda gave up because the birds, regardless of how you cooked them were terrible.
The gun. An O/U needs to have different chokes in each barrel. Modified in one and OC in the other. That is what worked for me. Also, depending on the station you are shooting from, first fire barrel selection needs to be easy.
Ammo:
I reloaded my own, but I used STS hulls, 18grs of Universal clays, can’t remember the wad, and 1 1/6oz of #7 1/2 shot. Shot lighter than this will often just alter the flight path of the bird without breaking it, and anything heavier, there may not be enough shot in the air for a hit. My load was given to me by a world champion Cliff Davidson who passed a number of years ago. I found his recipe worked.
