What does the word 'Fudd' mean to you?

I am right there with you.. Insulting others hasn't ever worked out positively for me anyways...

If I want to insult someone, which I have been known to do from time to time, I prefer to use words that are a little more derogatory and with a very clear meaning.

I have always taken FUDD to be a derogatory term for gun owners that are only concerned with hunting and how it related to gun ownership. They do not take the entirety of the 2A as seriously as other pro-gun sub-groups do.

ie a FUDD would be OK with the 94AWB since it did not effect their deer rifle or his duck gun.

I'd also have to say though, that just because a person only owns guns suitable for hunting, and has no personal interest in anything not hunting related does not make him a Fudd. It has to include an indifference to new gun laws that don't affect his hunting guns, or active support of things like AWB, magazine limits, restrictive CCW, etc. that don't directly impact him.

I disagree, not everyone that doesn't like a certain firearm wants it banned. The same holds true for those who gripe about folks who buy expensive firearms (wealth envy is what it appears to be) and think everyone should be buying cheap guns because they are only "tools"

I used the ban as one example of fudd-like thinking. Generally speaking, when I hear the word fudd I think of a gun owner who is willing to accept further infringement of our RKBA. I believe it was originally intended to apply to hunters who thought theirs was the only reason for preserving the 2A, but it seems to have taken on broader connotations.

This may be a different interpretation but I have always heard that "F.U.D." was an an acronym for "Fear, Uncertainty, and Despair", similar to what is going on with the stock market and the COVID-19 virus.
