I'd have to say a linoleum knife. I was on the receiving end of one years ago.

The chap teaching was a really well respected security contractor, with decades of work experience all over the world.
He had taught police officers and high profile people in South Africa what to do with the Civilian, his recollections were the easy way to keep a room full of big ugly blokes quiet, we all sat there like little schoolboys listening
His tales of how these are used, take away your breath, and your appetite - :barf:

Without reservation I'd say the person wielding the weapon is much more important than the type of weapon they employ.
But I do like kukris....

There was an interesting comment made on a show I watch regularly, Criminal Minds. When pondering why the unknown suspect uses a knife rather than gun, one agent comments:
Americans, typically, are more terrified by the presence of a knife than a gun. Most rape victims for instance; they’re more likely scream out for help if they see a gun, whereas they’ll comply if they see a blade.
Not been able to source this comment reliably yet, but very interesting in light of this discussion.

This is a brush blade I picked up for a few bucks in a second hand store. There's a lot of old hand powered logging equipment floating around this area. The blade tapers from about 1/2" thick at the spine. Does a heck of a job clearing blackberry vines (terrible weed in this area) but I suspect it could amputate an arm or leg pretty easily too. I used to keep it under the bed.

ANY blade pointed at me closer than the magic 7 yards scare me. Closer than that and I should have already put two in the Center Of your Mass
