Where are all the Win 1895 lever guns in 7.62 X 54R sent to Russia? Somebody finds the warehouse he can import them and make a few bucks.

I thought, with excessive firing, that those sort of... blew up? That may be a reason why they're not around in great numbers.

I've never heard about any safety problems with them. There were about 300,000 made for the Czar, but unlike the US made M-91's most of them appear to have been delivered. They saw heavy use in the war and the revolution. A fairly large number must have been sold back to the surplus market, but that was a long, long time ago. They're horded by collectors now.

when the gunnys take over i think anyone who claims to be a "collector" who

Doesnt have a public display
or
Doesnt fire the guns
:cuss:
should be tried for gunny treason. Missuse of firearms... not firing it OR using it for education....

anyway. id love for a 1895 to fall into my lap. in almost any caliber (though id perfer a military one. i love military stocks on older guns. everything else just feels 1/2 mule)

i think some one like NEF would make a good profit from a brake action single shot in 7.62R or the larger "wild cats" of it.

Not sure why you'd bother, though as the .303 is so similar in many ways. Requires barrel remove (alot of work and $$$) for little gain in performance.

Here's the link for the conversion. Main advantages are cheaper ammo, generally increased accuracy, and it can be done to barrels with excessive throat erosion to make them serviceable again.
