What exactly is a Lead Sled?

It's a shooting platform which allows you to place your rifle (or shotgun) onto the upper portion and 1 to 4 25# bags of lead on the bottom. The idea is that the bulk of the recoil would be absorbed by the device and the added weight.

For regular shooting, I can't see much utility, but if you were doing some load development for a large caliber rifle, it might be nice.

The lead sled is another nickname for the good ol' F4. America's proof to the world that no matter how heavy it is, if you put a big enough engine in it...it will fly.

Hmm, looks like it comes complete with a rifle and scope too. For a deal like that I wouldn't have any problem laying out the money for the bags of lead shot.

A lead sled is an old car with lead bodywork, sorta like the ricemobiles today that do the same thing but in fiberglass and epoxy.

A lead sled is the '68 Buick Electra that my buddy used to drive to work when he worked in a steel mill in Cleveland, Oh.

And all this time, I thought it was a Ranger Bass Boat. :neener:

I know. This was no help at all with your question. :D

and fly fast

Plus carry a butt load of ordinance, take a horrendous amount of punishment and still bring the pilot back in one piece.

1953 (or so) vintage Buick Roadmaster.

Next contender would be the 1977 Chrysler New Yorker..empty curb weight of 4,900Lbs...without the 29 Gallons of gasoline.

I would REALLY hate to have to fill that tank now...Although I did see a guy fill up his F350 Ford "Dually" yesterday...was about $175, IIRC

Actually, FlatFender & TrapperReady have the current definition of 'Lead Sled' correct.

A lead sled is my....

'95 Ford F150 4x4, long bed with cap, with a 145 hp six...................but it was cheap.......chris3
