For 9mm I have been working with:
1.) Lee 358-105-SWC, for a light target load with light recoil .
2.) Lee 356-125-2R. my friend bought this mould because he thought it was more feed friendly, being a RN design. I don't like RN's.
3.) Lee 356-120-TC. This is my favorite for regular velocity , target and tin can shooting.
4.) NOE 358-124-TC-GC . this is similar to the Lee TC design only it has a gas check. These are for hotter loads. It's also a 4 cavity bullet mould so it makes a bunch at one time and the GC will help prevent leading.
I size all of them to .357 and have used them in 4 different pistols.
If you are partial to Lee moulds, my pick is the 356-120-TC, I like the truncated cone design, cuts clean holes in targets and just looks cool.
The reason you have to load short is most new guns have little or no throat. The chamber ends and the rifling begins, no throat means you have to back the bullet up. Once I found the proper seating depth, through trail and error , then it was all good ! COAL is not a number you have to adhere to, adjust as needed to fit your guns chamber .
