I posted this because I have for sometime now, been in the market for a gun but don't know what to get. I just bought my first two guns about half a year ago and I'm quite sure Im ready to dump alot of money into a "long hauler, if you know what I mean. As of now I have a 1938 Springfield .22 and a breech loader 12 ga. I like shooting clays just as much as the next guy but ever sinice I was a little kid I have wanted to hold somthing in my hands and just UNLOAD. The .22 is the closest iv'e come to it so far; but it only holds 17 rounds and hasen't slaked my thirst for an onholy shooting frenzy the likes of which no coffee can has seen.
Given this understanding of my ideal gun, this is what in looking for:

Budget: $500-$600

1) I want something a bit flashy, I looked at tech-9's and an AP9 but got nothing but jamming reviews for the tech9 and not enough info on the AP9 to base a decision off of. I was also looking at AK-47's and AR15's. Please keep in mind if there is a gun out there you think I may want but assume I already know about it; trust me, I dont. I am very new to this and will accept all reccomendations.

2)Lots of rounds; something in the 30-50 range is good. Im not too concerned with accuracy but I don't want the diffrence between keeping my eyes closed or open just a sake of formality.

3)Given that I want to just unload massive clip after clip, ammo price is also in consideration.

4)Finally, I am very open to suggestion. More or less I am looking for an assult rifle or pistol with the above mentioned features.

Your suggestions and opinions will be taken with appriciation and consideration

What about a Steyr SPP? It shoots the plentiful and cheap 9x19mm ammo and with the assault weapon ban gone you can buy 30 round mags for it again. Price is around $800, but they are far superior to those TEC-9 and MAC clones. My only gripe with it was the heavy trigger pull.

The cheapest high quality blaster is a Glock 17 and those 33rd magazines.

No expert, but I think you want the AK. My friend has one (some American made version) and the thing is pure fun to shoot. Ammo is $2.50/20rds and 30rd magazines are pretty darn cheap. We usually end up shooting the thing until we can't hold the forend from the heat. I asked him to bring some oven mitts next time.

Not *once* in 3-4000 rounds has that thing malfunctioned. It's a real shooter. He recently bought this weird red dot scope that mounts on the side for even more entertainment.

if you want a good gun and want to go through amno and accrate try a 30 carbine and 30 or 40 round mags no recoil and 350 to 400$ and a few hand guns in same cal.

)Given that I want to just unload massive clip after clip, ammo price is also in consideration.

You want an AK clone. Take into consideration that even true "assualt rifles" as in select fire ones are not designed for sustained magazine after magazine after magazine fire. Not only will you eventually damage the barrel, you could very well melt the handguard off. Due to these things you want to stick towards a very reliable, cheaper firearm. The AK has cheap magazines, and cheap ammo.

Be careful though.

The answer to your question is an AK. Once you buy the 30 and 75 round mags, you are set because the 7.62x39 ammo is so cheap and available in bulk. Put the coffee can out at about 50 yards (or maybe even build a coffee can pyramid ;) ) . When the reciever gets hot to the touch, it's time to let it cool for a few minutes.

My only warning, other than to stay safe, is that you might build and reinforce bad shooting habits that could interfer with learning what Jeff Cooper calls "the art of the rifle."

If your budget were a little bit bigger, I might suggest an AR.

the AK or SKS is truely an excellent choice. However, it is not the only one.

I think the Ruger carbine would fit your needs well.

note, do NOT expect to pay full retail, most any place will sell for about 10% off of that, and with some looking it may get a lot cheaper.

why i recommend it, while the Ak is surely not a hard recoiling weapon for me, i have brought novices out shooting AKs before, and soon they were shooting from the hip. Due to the combination of not holding the stock tight enough, a short stock, and attemting to fire really fast, the shoulder was sore. But, you've got a shotgun, this probably won't be a problem for oyu.

While you can get 7.62x39 really cheap, you can get 9x19 even cheaper.

while this gun lists it's capacity as 10, that is the old 'hi cap ban' designed magazine. The gun will accept any high capacity ruger 9mm mag. This means your standard ruger p89 or p95 or wht have you 15 round mag will work just fine. But, there are also 20, 25, and 30 round mags designed for use with the ruger 9mm pistols, and these will work just fine there too.

your comment on the tech-9 made me think of this.

30 round mag for it

The .22 . . . only holds 17 rounds and hasen't slaked my thirst for an onholy shooting frenzy the likes of which no coffee can has seen . . . Im not too concerned with accuracy . . . I want to just unload massive clip after clip . . .
And just HOW old are you?

Beretta CX4 Storm just a little over $500... I heard they are a lot of fun and
you can use 92F 30 rnd clips.

If you had more money you could go for a Calico 950 (used) around $800/900.
They come with 50 or 100 rnd tubes. A lot of 9mm spitting for a hand
gun.

Apparently, you've never seen a 43-year-old man giggle after bump-firing two 75-rd drums through a SAR-1 and lighting a cigarette off the barrel. :) :D

By the way:
SAR-1 or WASR-10: $350.00
Two 75-round drums: $160.00
1,000 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39: $90.00
Being unable to quit smiling for a couple hours: Priceless.

There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's Kalashnikov.

Total: $600.00
