what gun(s) you USED to dislike...

Didn't care for the 1911 platform, first couple of them I shot were poor examples...rattled a lot, didn't seem to fit me. Hit the paper, but not the sillouette.

About 8 years back, shooting buddy bought a mil-spec Springfield. After he got the "only works with REAL USGI Ball" ammo issues resolved, I shot it a few times, and changed my mind about the 1911 platform.

Still not a fan of polymer weapons, though.

First, I didn't like autos.
Then I bought a H&K usp compact .45 stainless.
Then I didn't like glocks.
I am now the proud owner of a G20.
Didn't like S&W wheel guns
I lost count of how many I own, don't ask.
Didn't like 9mm pistols.
I now own 3, soon to be 5.
Didn't like CZ pattern weapons.
I now own 2 cz75s.
Didn't like 1911s.
Just bought a razorback.

During all this time, only a few constants.
I STILL DON'T LIKE HI-POINTS.

Glocks, or any Glock knock off look alikes. But then I ended up with my Steyr, and my mind has been changed.

My first gun was a Semi automatic Colt Gold Cup.

When I first got in to guns, I really never cared for a revolver. Now that's what I lust for, everytime I buy something, I think in terms of how many revolvers that cost me.:D

As I said before I didn't used to like Kel-tec firearms, well I still don't, but the carbine is starting to look real good!

When I was young and stupid, and long before the days of forums such as this, I read gun magazines. Jan Libourel, Dave Arnold, Mas Ayoob, and others convinced me that "wondernines," as they were then called, were the only way to go for defense guns. The 1911 design was obsolete, totally unreliable, and almost criminally dangerous if dropped or pointed at a bad guy.

I bought a SIG P226 and trotted off to a class with a localish instructor, who also happened to be a multiple-time graduate of Orange Gunsite. I was quickly shown the error of my ways, and was exposed to the One True Way. I traded the SIG for a Colt Commander which saw me through a course with Chuck Taylor. I started winning local IPSC-style matches after that, Commander in hand.

Funny thing, when I showed up at LFI-I, Mas didn't sneer at my Commander...though he was packing a P226!

The very same Commander rides on my hip daily, fourteen years later.

Dislike is too strong of a word for the SIG P220 but I sold it because I preferred other guns in .45 ACP. Now that I have a P220ST I guess you could say I'm a fan of the P220 again. Although the ST is a whole different beast all together. ;)

For me-

that applies to Glock's and Beretta's.

I ended up owning (3) Glock's: 17, 23, and 27
and one Beretta 92 fs Centurion model.

Nothing wrong with any of them; just that I
was thinking of them with a "closed mind"!

Best Wishes,

It used to be 92Fs and Smith autos. I initally trained on the Glock, so I thought at the time it was the bee's knee's. Saw alot of Smith autos in the used rack, and just did not like the 92F.
So now my Glock sits in the safe, the 92F is the competition gun, and the Smith auto rides with me everyday.

I've gone in two directions.

The number of gun designs that I like enough to buy has dwindled. Any old gun just doesn't do it for me, anymore.

On the flip side, I've starting to see the utility of some guns (like the Beretta 92) that I've never cared for in the past. If I "needed" a gun, the list is now bigger than it used to be.

But I sure don't need anymore guns.

First it was custom Ruger 10/22's. My son built one, I tried it. I built two that I shoot regularly.

Next it was C&R type military rifles. I presently own a CETME, a Yugo SKS, a SAR1. While not all C&R, I am constantly scanning shotgun news, and considering a license.

Then it was polymer handguns. I bought a USP on a great deal. I shot it. It became my favorite, and I later bought the USPc.

I deplored revolvers, and single actions in particular. Two weeks ago, I found a new Cimarron Thunderer in .357 for $150 off MSRP. I bought it. I shot it. I'm hooked, and looking at blackpowder stuff now......

I used to dislike revolvers (archaic, old fashioned, bulky, clunky) until I fired one for the first time.

Now I've got a small collection of older Smith K-frames that I shoot more than any others. These guns give me real pleasure to shoot.

I just needed to see the light, I guess.

Unlike many others on here I started out using Glocks, I always thought the 1911 to be too involved for my tastes...I wanted something simple.

Several years ago I became a firearms Instructor..and the quest for my perfect pistol began. I now own several Glocks, a Dan Wesson revolver and a Springfield Armory 1911...not to mention the rifles.

I now will probably never buy another Glock, but will keep what I own. I will probably never buy anything but the 1911's from here on out...I am hooked on them and think they are by far the best pistol ever built...that's why they are still in production today!

I used to think 1911s where obsolete clunkers of a bygon era.

I have since seen educated myself a tad and rethought things.

I used to think that a shrouded hammer snub-nose was the ugliest gun made. But since I got my concealed weapons license, I appreciate the advantage of that design, and no longer think of it as ugly. In fact, my next gun will likely be a S&W PD.

Glocks. Hated them until the generation 3 frames came along. Now, my G17 and G19 3G fit my hand like a glove. But the G1 and G2 felt like a brick.

That would have been 1911's and revolvers. I thought that they were for "old people"

Those "old people" definetly knew something I didnt. The 1911 is one of my favorite handguns to shoot now. :)

S&W revolvers---swore I'd never own one in my 20's---now in my 40's---I own 2----the only revolvers I own.

Milsurp rifles-thought there old beat up pieces of junk---now I own 4.

I had no interest in the S&W 625 until I saw what Jerry Miculek can do with one. If I ever have the spare cash it will either be one of those or a M1917.

Didn't like Taurus's........And after I got my 608, 8 shot .357 that was all stainless, 8in Barrel ,ported........I hated'em even more.

Thing was a joke........I could not hit the broad side of a barn with it.......And I'm a great shot. Damn chambers were off.......Thing shaved a bullet on me. and the force'n cones face was as ruff as a peice of sand paper. It was a more expensive model too.

That sucker got sent back.......Be the last time I buy a Taurus.
