I'm running an online art contest for another forum, wherein competitors will produce single panels from a larger graphic novel. The setting for the story will be in Louisiana between 1901-1935.

There are plenty of firearms that turn up all the time in graphic novels and anime (1911, Thompson, Mauser broomhandle), so I'd like to shie away from those and focus on artistically cool-looking firearms that would be more particular to that time/place.

It'd be great if the creative THR members could post pics/links to gun images, and maybe explain a bit about their choice. What kind of character would use this gun? What interesting aspects of their backstory would lead them to choose that firearm?

Off the top of my head, the Colt Hammerless autos look great, and you don't see many 1908s in modern media. Would a semi-auto hunting rifle like a Remington Model 8 be a possible armament for a figure in Louisiana in the 20s?

Here's a gorgeous one belonging to a THR member:

For some reason the image of a cap-and-ball Colt revolver popped into my head. I know it would be a generation or two old by the time frame you're talking about, but it somehow seems fitting to LA or the South generally to find folks still using grand-dad's gun.
