From Grandpa L, a Remington octagon barrel rolling block .22
From Grandpa W, a Marlin 39A .22
From my dad, a Jap 7.7 he brought home from the Pacific
From my wife's dad, a Winchester 1893 12ga made in 1908

Old Wards Hercules single shot 12 ga, belonged to my wife's grandpa who traded it to my dad for $3 and some scrap steel back when they were young men.

Dad's WWII bring back P38.

I'm up to 100 guns just counting the ones left to me and I would gladly give them back to see some of those I have lost.

My Father-in-Law left me 30+ firearms. Some old Winchester shotties, including 3 1887's (lever action shotguns), one 1893 (the first commercial pump action shotgun), 3 1897s, one 1901 (10ga lever action), one Model 25, 6 Model 12s, 1 Model 40, one Model 50, one Model 59 (very rare, fiberglass barrel), one Remington Model 11, one GI Carbine, 2 Ruger .44 Carbines, one Stevens Visible Loader .22, one Kodiak .22mag auto, 6 Ruger 10/22s, one Benelli Black Eagle, one Remington 1100, one Browning .22 auto, and a few others that escape me right now. When he died, my collection doubled over night.

This will probably sound dumb, but one of the most treasured "guns" passed down to me was a Red Ryder BB gun that my Grandfather gave me when I was about 10 years old. I was like the kid in Christmas Story who begged and begged for a BB gun that year for Christmas... I could think of nothing else. My Grandfather ended up giving me his Red Ryder that he used when he was a kid. Boy, it looked like it had character...

Just last year, he gave me a Rem 700 ADL .30-06, which I love (and shot my first deer with). I'll never part with it until I pass it down, but I'm not sure anything could match the excitement of that first BB gun.

My paternal grandfather had a small but choice collection when I was small. He married a controlling, manipulative woman after his divorce that didn't want him having anything to do with his former family(I realize that he was at fault as well) and when he died we didn't even get a phone call. We also lost the family farm and other property that was in his name. My uncle who is the only other shooter in the family had been to see him a few months earlier when he was very sick. After the visit my grandfather told my uncle he had something for him under the bed, it was a Browning Model 78 6mm, and some sort of Colt 1911. His new stepsons had sold off his collection(including some sort of double rifle that belonged to my great-grandfather!) one by one after he got sick and these were all he had left. My uncle gave me the Browning and he kept the Colt.
My maternal Grandfather recently gave me the Browning "Vest Pocket" that his mother carried from before my Grandpa was born until the day she died ;-) It is my most prized keepsake.

From my Grandfather
Remington Model 12 12 ga Full Choke
Winchester Pre 94 30-30
Remington 700 30-06
Colt 1911

Great guns from a great man. I do cherish these things but would gladly return them if he we still here

My father started giving me his guns that I had a great interest in when he was still alive. He and I would go out and shoot until,it was dark, we were too tired or out of ammo. He gave me every little pointer he could with each gun he gave me, My "step mother" sold or gave away a great deal of his guns. I never her let him know that. It would have made his last days that much more miserable. I will never forgive her. As far as listing them, thats not going to happen but I assure you that each and every one of them is near and dear to my heart.

My most prized, was left to my mom by her dad, and she has given it to me. Its a Browning Citori Plus Gold, adj. comb and stock, its also ported and has the high rib. I love shooting trap with it. A few others are my Winchester Mod. 70, pre '64 chambered in .270, its my deer rifle. Also a Winchester mod. 69A .22 with the original old school Savage 4x scope that I still plink with often. Those were given to me by my uncle by marriage(closer than most blood relatives). They were his grandfathers. My dad has let me "borrow" a few over the years, they include an Ithaca O/U 20g that I believe was my grandpas and a Browning BPS. Unfortunately my dad, step-grandpa and uncle have many many more guns that I will get some day, but I am definitly not looking forward to those days.

My grandpa gave me a Japanese Type 99 that his uncle or cousin (can't remember) brought back from the Pacific during WW2. It has not been fired since presumably the last time the Japanese soldier fired it. I think I am going to keep it that way.

My father gave me his old production class colt 1911. He had undercut the triggergaurd checkered the frontstrap, the rear of the slide and the mainsping housing by hand. He also had a bomar sight put on it. He had also included 4 devel 8 rnd mags, one of my sons will get the gun when he is ready.

I have received from my dad a Marlin Model 49 exposed hammer pump shotgun. I haven't found much information on it other than it was produced for give away to Marlin stockholders and not for sale. Would like more info on the history and value if anyone can help.

My dad handed me down his entire collection a few years ago.

My favorites are the .22 Hi Standard Durango and .44 Ruger Carbine. I always loved the "cowboy revolver", and the .44 was his favorite deer rifle.

He still adds to his collection, but I get the benefit :)
