Gentlemen:
I have been pretty stumped trying to figure out what model this H&R 9 shot, top break revolver, in 22 Long Rifle actually is. On the left side of the barrel it says: H&R "SPORTSMAN" and right underneath that it says SINGLE ACTION
On the right side of the barrel it says 22 Long Rifle CTG.
On the cylinder it says PAT. NO. 1904730
The serial # is S3xxx
It's not a Model 999 from what information I have been able to find, at least I think not. I have been told that it could be a Model 199. There is no model # that I can find anywhere on this handgun, unless it was just called a Sportsman Single Action?

Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

From information in my books I would say it is a sportsman 199 due to the grips and no rib on the barrel. These are the only two that show sportsman model. If there is a location on the gun i.e. city and state that would help date the gun as to if it is an original harrington and richardson inc. , a H & R 1871 inc., or a H & R 1871 LLC.

Looked at my collection of gun bluebooks and matched your revolver to an H&R No. 199. It said in the info that it was sold as "The Sportsman" . Introduced in 1933 and made until 1951. My 1991 book lists excellent value at $115. to 125.
