Hey all,

I'd like some opinions.

I have a blued, NRM Colt 1911 that I really like. The only thing I DON'T LIKE about it is the hammer that came on it. It just doesn't compliment the looks of the pistol very well.

So I have been thinking and looking at lots of pictures of various custom 1911's to try and figure out what would not only look great, but also and more importantly, WORK great too.

Here is what I have come up with so far as options.

1. Install a park'd WIDE SPUR hammer like the ones on the WWI Repros and use the existing grip safety that came on it (NOT a Beavertail type).

2. Get a ROUND COMMANDER style hammer and use it. I would either grind down the grip safety to accommodate this ROUND style or get one of the Commander type grip safeties that are already made to use with the ROUND hammer style.

3. Get a park'd hammer that is similar to what's on it now and bob it a bit.

I like the "retro" kind of look on the NRM like it came from the factory. That's why I am not looking at a "modern" type setup with a nice Beavertail and one of the "new" Commander speed hammers that are so common on every 1911 these days.

So what do you all think would look the best? If you have any pictures to post that shows some great looking setups, how about posting them.

Any thoughts?

Thank you for your help and time.
