What Happened to P Caps?

Mykeal, I was thinking more of the Walker revolver for the shotgun caps. Maybe they are too big for the cylinder to revolve?

Too bad about the #12s. Looks like I will have to be patient and wait for the new nipples to show up. Might try those leads you suggested for a set. Thanks.

Mykeal,
Thanks for the lead Track of the Wolf. I was able to order replacement nipples (in bronze and blue steel) and the Ox-Yoke patches. Cabellas has both on back order.

Track of the Wolf has some fine looking long guns for sale.

No reason not to use musket caps on the Sharps. I've never used them on a sidehammer, but I suppose it would work.

Pancho, I never seen an example of the current musket cap. The nipple on the Sharps Model 1863 appears to be the same as on the Springfields of that era. IF I can get my old digital camera to function, I will attach a photo of the nipple with a scale for reference.

I use musket caps on my inline Traditions Lightning, because that's what it was designed to use. Ironically, the inline community says they're not hot enough and conversion to 209 shotgun primers is the thing to do.

I really don't understand this need to use the hottest stuff. I've never had a problem with No. 10/11 caps, nor with the musket caps for that matter.
