I love the Micro T1 that I have on an AR with standard front sight. I also have an AR with a flip down front sight. I don't see a reason to mount the T1 on an AR with a flip down front sight as high as on a gun with standard sight. What is the best way to mount a T1 to an AR with a flip down front sight.

I would suggest the absolute co-witness height (same as GI iron sights, not lower 1/3) and not lower, as that height works well for cheekweld with most stock setups.

so basically no different than what I would run on a gun with standard fixed front sight?

Yes. 1- that's the most common, because 2) it's where the sightline is - above the bore.

Older guns have crooked stocks to raise the bore up, the sights were a direct mount. The AR straight stock, like most modern inline stocks, needs the sights raised up to where you can see.

Shooting nose to the charging handle points it out, the eyes are about 1 1/2" higher.

If you have a flip up front sight, I think you're burning brain cells for nothing. There's really no noticeable difference in cheek weld between the two; and if you're going to the back ups, the red dot isn't working any more, so what difference does it make.

Just get the mount that you like or can afford.
