Got the Winter blues, not much hunting going on here in NM right now. If you were lucky enough to get a tag last year, Ibex in Southern NM is open. Barbary sheep is open as well, but equates to a really good day hiking. Coyotes are getting spooky from being shot at all winter, but I've found a few dumb ones to educate.

What hunting is going on in your neck of the woods right now?

Quail season ends next weekend. Gonna try to make one more run up to TX panhandle. Then, for me anyway, probably mostly feral hog (which are legal year round here, except on some public lands.) And springtime is often nice for bustin' a few "clay birds". :)

Heck,

I'm missing NM (My home state) right now it's way dead in CO. So dead in fact I'll have to drive to Texas next week and try and pot some hogs.

mlheppl,

Where abouts in NM are you?

I am originally from Santa Fe (Don't tell to many people that nowadays;) )

I grew up in Pecos and have lived in Las Cruces and Artesia.

There are times when I really miss NM...............

Only thing I'm hunting around here (Montana) are some college girls. Wouldn't really say the season is that good really. A couple of fresh trails, so I haven't given up yet! :D

I've been hunting for my damn pocket knife for close to two weeks!! Where the hell'd I put that thing?!
*feels pockets for the 100th time*

I live in Grants, NM. For those of you unfamiliar with NM, that's about 75 miles west of Albuquerque. H&H Hunter, can't blame you for not wanting people to know you're associated with being from Santa Fe anymore.

There's some pretty fail elk hunting in this area. Mule deer are alittle scarce, but some real nice bucks in the area. Plenty of coyotes and prarie dogs for keeping your shooting skills sharp.
