I have been thinking lately about which firearms I wish to add to my (small) collection. Any feedback on what I might enjoy (based on what I list) and anything really good that I might have missed is welcome.

What I have:
2 Savage 116FLSSAK's (long story)
Mosin 91/30
Glock 36
Remington 870 20ga.
Remington 522 "Viper" 22lr
Browning Challenger II 22lr pistol

What I want (in no particular order):
AR-15
M1A
M1 Garand
Sig 226
FAL
Serbu 50BMG
Savage 64/Marlin 795
Savage 12 Benchrest Rifle
And probably 1 each of Glock's offerings :)

What I would get first if I were you:

Sig 226- full size pistol
AR15- intermediate caliber semi auto
No revolvers? What gives?

Good point lions- Add a Smith and Wesson Model 27 (I think that is the one I am thinking of, the one the Highway patrolman model was based on) in a 6" bbl. 357 mag of course. I have easy access to a Beretta 92fs, so a full-size pistol isn't high in priority right now. I would like to get into 3-gun matches, so as it stands right now, I would need an AR type gun to compete. My dad has all sorts of 12ga shotguns, so that is not an issue either.

I have never shot a Hi-power, heard a lot about them, but never had a chance to shoot or even handle one.

An AK-47 or a good quality 1911 are a couple you may have missed. The AK is no target gun but it's loads of fun to shoot. :)

I will have to pass on the AK. I shot a friend of mine's and it was ok, I prefer the SKS though. Something about the AK just doesn't jive with my personal ergonomics. It was a kick to bump-fire though

Speaking of bump-firing, don't bump an AR left-handed.... your body gets smacked with all the gas venting out the side of the BCG.... but I digress.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have a 1911 in there too :)

Qualify to buy from CMP and get one of these:

RM1SAS M1 Garand, SA Service Grade $595

If you don't otherwise qualify, pay to join the Garand Shooters Association, the magazine is worth the price of membership anyway. One of the best gun deals going.

I just need the coin to buy one, and I need to join a local gun club that is affiliated.

There are other options that qualify as a club, such as the GCA. You can join many online.
