What would you do if the government acted to suspend the second amendment?

there is another attack on the united states?

And what if, it involves a high number of armed terrorists?

And, what if, the government moves to suspend the second amendment? :what: Do you. . .

Yeah, I guess the thought of our ever trustworthy government turning on its own citizens in response to a tragedy of this kind is pretty far out. It could NEVER happen here, right?

I think that it would have to be a crazy situation in the US. If there were ever multiple nukes detinated by terrorists. THen there might be martial law which might lead to arms seizures.

I ripped my tin foil hat

I never understood this.

If your own citizens are under attack, where is the logic in disarming them so that they will be even more vulnerable?

Exactly Alan. And it would be the first and last mistake we would ever make as a free people to submit to that supposed logic. No armed citizens, no america as we know it. GAME OVER.

And, what if, the government moves to suspend the second amendment?
What do you mean "if"? Havent they already?
A little at a time is as good as all at once. We are allowing the little at a time, so whos fault is that?

I can't imagine the move would be related to an armed attack from outside but I understand what you mean...

Two words: civil disobedience.

It would require a change in the Constitution but I am of the opinion that possessing the means of self defense cannot be dictated by the government.

The second amendment is absolute. The government cant suspend anything unless we allow it (which we are doing and have been doing ever since the first gun control law was created). Whatever criminal law they passed to suspend would be a crime under the laws endowed by our creator. Our God given rights acknowledged in the bill of rights. Leaving us, the armed citizenry, to defend our rights. And restore a government that has turned criminal.

Would anyone actually believe that our rights can be "suspended"? That we would be able to have our arms returned by our government , when we are totally disarmed? Are you kidding me? God help us if the majority of gunowners fall for that line of thinking. God help a nation of cowards.

That's it! Game over man! Game over! We have no guns! :banghead:

Or...The receptionist outside a Govt. building saying to the guard "Who left that van out there?"

Or...Joe Fed returning home from a hard day of terrorizing his fellow citizens "Hey, whats this van want pulling up beside me here at the stop light for?"

Or...Joe representive "Yea nice day for a jog. Hey whats that glint of light from the tree line over th..."

YEAH! The one who voted to roll over and die must reveal themselves!

Seriously, what is the matter with you? without the 2nd all the others will mean nothing because we will not have the means to resist a despotic government.:banghead:

ol' badger

Ok. Whos the knuckle head that hit obey?

Its okay. Sheeple that would obey such edicts have been around for a while... even during Samuel Adams' time.

Here is what he had to say to them...
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace._ We ask not your counsel nor your arms._ Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you._ May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."__ --Samuel Adams

My problem with gunnies is that a lot of us are "arm chair guerillas" :(
I mean most of the people I know and talk to on this board all "talk the talk" when it comes to the struggle for liberty. But really how many of us would really "walk the walk" if the SHTF. Many people on this board have actually seen combat and understand first hand the expression "war is hell". But most of us have only seen 'saving private ryan' and 'apocalypse now', and have NO idea what it is actually like to be fighting for one's life. Anyone want to chime in on how they KNEW they would be ready mentally for such a situation?

thanks,

To tell you the truth atek3, I would probably be having a hell of a time aiming because of the amount of tears forming in my eyes. And at some point I would breakdown and have a good cry and try to come to grips with what might happen. Needless to say, I would be scared to death.

But the tears and experience of the terror would remind me in my suffering why Im fighting. :fire:

The only comfort is the thought of not facing this alone.

Looking at how close the last presidential election was and at the bad economy we have now, I believe the Democrats will win the next presidential elections.

They are holding up W's judicial nominations so that those positions will be open for their socialist judges. They want their judges (lawyers) to interpret the constitution for their convenience.

I think our gun rights will be gone in five years.

Talk of rebelling is ludicrous because the US is becoming more of an urban nation. There would be no support for such a rebellion, those that do fight against the government will end up like Timothy McVeigh.

Fewer young people today hunt or shoot because they are not close to any woods for those kinds of activities. Shooting is more of a hobby for older men who grew up in a time before urban sprawl consumed our open green spaces.
Sad fact is that without any nearby woods for hunting and shooting, boys will grow up to become good little girls and don't want anything to do with guns or hunting. These young people are the future.

What I recommend is moving to a rural area where one can live free if they are discreet. Keep in mind that however much cartridge ammo you may hoarde, it can't be replaced as it is used up. Thus I recommend flintlock muzzle-loading firearms for rural sportsmen as one can cast ball from scrap lead, knap flints from agates, and make blackpowder from instructions downloaded from the internet. The only other option is archery.
