What is a good price for once-fired 5.56 brass?

I sold some brass in this forum for $60 for tumbled commercial and military 1000pcs last month. Im not trying to sell but that's how much I though was fair but I have seen prices like this for 500 pcs and even more.

I am not selling brass, but the prices I have seen lately are much higher than that. I saw in another thread where guys thought $120/ thousand was not bad. That seems high to me, but I'm old!

$60/1000 shipped range brass is where it should be. That's what most honest people have been seeking at thorough this whole ordeal. Anything more for 1000 pieces of range 223, price gouging, supply is still there. People are buying 223 ammo off gun store shelves and once fired just let it lay. So there is no really supply and demand issue, because there is always supply on the ground.

Don't pay price gouged prices for 223 brass. I've seen it on here a few times and just shake my head and wonder why.

Wow! Fairness does not seem possible at this time. The rush to stockpile has mashed up all semblance of fair play. One look at GunBroker.com will tell you that.

I saw that MIDWAYUSA had some for sale, but I don't think it lasted that long.

You can see even Midway wanted 70 bucks for half a thou. At least you can add a "notify me" at that site.

There is simply too much 5.56/.223 brass out there to over pay. Be patient.

There isn't any .223 brass being sold for $60/1000 at any retail site nor trade sections in forums. It wasn't selling at that price 6 months ago at any retail place either.

That is half the going price. If you find it for $120/1000 you're doing good. Doesn't mean that nice deals don't come along(locally, for instance), but it is very rare to find it cheaper right now.

I appreciate the offer Parasite.
I have a little brass right now. I was just trying to get an idea of what was fair in the current market. I am hearing very differed opinions. It sounds like a great time to be the guy with the brass...

I am in CA and I have guys wanting to jump on $120/1,000 deals. I guess it just depends on where you are.

Just keep an eye out. I have purchased twice for $70 delivered per 1000 this month.

I remember when you could buy 223 brass for $10 per thousand, but those times are gone. If a person wants more for an item than you are willing to pay, don't buy it. Have you all seen the price of Colt Pythons lately? If you had one, are you going to sell it for $100 more than you paid for it 15 years ago or are you going to see what people are willing to pay. A lot of guys have a different point of view depending upon if they are buying or selling.

I did not purchase any .223 or start reloading it until after the panic had begun. I have only made one small purchase of 400 cases at 10 cents each. I have not seen anything lower for a few months. I already had about 600 cases (been collecting for a number of years since I purchased a lower).

I will as soon as I see it again. It has been just keeping an eye out on the forums. Good luck.

I have seen brass at more reasonable prices, but by the time I see it the thread is closed, or the brass is sold pending funds. Just can't win sometimes.

i ordered some from pat's reloading for $80/k right before christmas. i had to wait a month for them to get another shipment, but it eventually showed up.

Thank you all for your feedback; I now feel like I have a pretty good idea of what is reasonable in the current climate.
