I've just finished inspecting my new PX4 (the second one, after I threw the first one off of a four story roof and finally had it stolen) and it has several prominent scratches in it. There's one big fat one in front of the rear sight that goes across the slide, not down it, and a couple of lighter ones on the left hand (non ejection port) side.

They aren't anything stuck to the gun because they don't scrub off. They're deep enough to feel if I pick at them with a fingernail. I can't imagine how they got there. I haven't done anything with this gun other than take it out of the box, stick it in a soft holster, and shoot it at the range precisely once.

I am hesitant to think that the finish scratches were caused by anything I did anyway, because as I said I threw my last Storm off of a four story mill building into a rocky creek (accidentally!) and its finish was un-marred except for a ding on the left side safety lever.

Beretta's warranty explicitly does not cover finish, even factory defects that aren't noticed immediately, because "purchasers should take note of finish imperfections at the time of sale." This is a loose paraphrase of the actual text of their warranty; A Beretta rep I spoke to over the phone essentially told me to go play in traffic.

Is Bruniton some sort of epoxy coat or what? Does anyone know of a touch up product that will match it like a certain shade of Duracoat?
