What is best bullet for 30-06 deer hunt?

The last two deer I shot with w .30-06 were with factory loaded Hornady Superperformance 165 gr SSTs and Rem. Hog Hammer 168 gr. TSXs. Both deer were DRT but they were Hill Country doe so not really a challenge. I have started shooting Barnes Vortex 180 gr. TTSXs but haven't had a chance to shoot game with them.

The 168 gr. TSX Hog Hammers are the most accurate out of my rifle followed by the Barnes Vortex 180 gr. TTSXs.

Hi guys , I am a beginer for hunting.. I got Sako AV 30-06, I just wonder what is best bullet type for this caliber while hunting for deer in Upstate NY terrains?
Any suggestions while money no objects for ammo?
For deer, I prefer a softer bullet that will open up. There are many great loads for the .30-06. I would pick the one that shoots best in your rifle. Hornady Interlock, Nosler Ballistic Tip or Partition, Federal Fusion etc. You don't need a super premium/tough bullet for whitetail, especially in the '06

I wouldn't hesitate to shoot the biggest deer that walks with a good 150 grain cup and core bullet. Deer are what they're designed for. You don't need or really want the extra penetration of a heavier / stouter bullet on deer. Save that for elk.

Hodgdon has specifically stated that only h4895 is safe for reduced loads, there IS a difference between the two, and iirc the imr version doesn't play well when trying for reduced loads
Just like the distributor web sight says
