For deer, I prefer a softer bullet that will open up. There are many great loads for the .30-06. I would pick the one that shoots best in your rifle. Hornady Interlock, Nosler Ballistic Tip or Partition, Federal Fusion etc. You don't need a super premium/tough bullet for whitetail, especially in the '06Hi guys , I am a beginer for hunting.. I got Sako AV 30-06, I just wonder what is best bullet type for this caliber while hunting for deer in Upstate NY terrains?
Any suggestions while money no objects for ammo?

Hodgdon has specifically stated that only h4895 is safe for reduced loads, there IS a difference between the two, and iirc the imr version doesn't play well when trying for reduced loadsAre you saying that IMR 4895 isn't suitable for downloading?
