The 19 is just such a perfect balance of every element.... not too big, not too small, not too heavy, not too light, excellent capacity, versatile!

And the 23 is a very close second.

I also have a 29 and a 30 but feel strongly that the 19 and 23 are THE best two Glocks... and I believe they are the two Glock models which are by far the most popular sellers - for very good reason.

I can carry a 19 or 23 concealed very easily and feel that most anyone can. They're also a good general purpose gun - home defense, car gun, carry gun.... just a great choice all around.

Oops, I also misread the question. Sorry I've had the G29 on the brain lately.

It would NOT be the best first handgun for anyone. Just ask the Fibbies.

You would be better off with a 9mm such as the G19 or even the full size G17.

What he said ^^^^^^^

I will - a G19. I found that several beginner young ladies liked it.

Last year, I had the choice of a police surplus Glock 19 or a police surplus Glock 23.

I was really torn between the two, but finally chose the Glock 19. I've got a Glock 22 which I really like. However, with hot loads, the Glock 22 has VERY brisk recoil. I figured that wouldn't be LESS in a smaller gun, so I went with the Glock 19 and have not regretted the decision.

I've found my Glock 19 to be reliable and EXTREMELY accurate. When I took the class for my Ohio CCW, I ran out of places to shoot on my practical target, having shot the bullseye out. I ended up shooting the copywrite notices and anything else that made a good aiming point.

I would like to ask do you have a full size one yet , or is this your first gun?
If this is your first gun go with a full size glock or the G19, then once your good at firing it i would go and get the G27 , MIND you of this if you have two
weapons you carry , you want to stay with the same cal.(me i carry a G22 ,for duty and i will be getting a G27 for concealment latter , yea everyone tells me its got a fat grip , you can't grip it good , they said the same about
the G22 for me, but ive added Hoge grips and it's like another part on my hand
I would say make sure you kinda stay with the same cal.If you every need to
you can use the mag from the like me G27 in my 22. once i purchase the weapon latter this year mabey around my birthday in December , or the holidays.

I agree with the G19. Shoots accurately enough and has a good number of rounds in a small enough package.

For a comapct Glock, I carry a G23, It carrys well, it is very easy to conceal, I like the 40S&W round.

For a SubCompact Glock, I carry the G36...it has a smaller capacity 6 in the mag and 1 in the chamber.

The G36 takes some practice, the recoil is not unbearable...At the range I practice this handgun at varying distances, from 7 yards to 25...I feel if you have to bet your life on any handgun, then you have to be willing to put the time in with it.

the Glock G23, is a great handgun, for being a compact it really does fire well, and it is easy to be accurate with. I often practice with this, in both static and tactical firing.

For me I am sticking with the larger caliber handguns, I am not a big guy and these guns suit me well.

+1 for Spider Pig.

Starting our with a Glock is like learning to drive by sitting in the back seat and watching. You WILL learn bad habits that will haunt you for a long time.
