Hey folks, here is an article by Bill Rapier that I found to be an excellent summary of the approach one should take to being well rounded at self defense.

Bill is hands down the best trainer I've ever had the privilege of working with. He has a wealth of knowledge, excellent teaching skills, and is extremely humble considering his resume. His classes aren't cheap but well worth attending if you ever get the opportunity.

Excellent article with which I 100% agree. I offer this thought based upon my own situation. In 5 months I will be 80 years old. My 5’10” body eigh 165 pounds. I have limited arm strength due to inoperable rotator cuff damage in both shoulders. I. Have had to work around my smaller size and inferior arm strength and mobility. Ten years ago I trained in the Center Axis Relock System because it allows me to overcome some of those weaknesses. So it in important that one consider what training will work best for any disabilities or limitations that could impair performance.

Absolutely. Know what your weaknesses are so you can figure out how to either strengthen them or find a way to work around them.
