Color me disappointed. Henry Nettleton Cavalry revolvers are out from USFA. The pictures are nice. Reviews are good. I got to see some in person today. USFA needs to learn how to apply a decent finish. It was disappointing to see that these were allowed to see the light of day. Bad just doesn't describe how poorly finished these are. :cuss: :barf: :what:

Huh.

One of three things happened here:

1) USAF has taken the final high-end finish work in-house and goofed it up?

2) Doug Turnbull Restorations did an "oopsie" of some sort. Last *I* heard, USAF was just making the basic guns and finishing the entry-level plain-finish Rodeos in-house, all others are shipped "in the white" to Turnbull.

3) Turnbull got overloaded and they found a new farm-out final finishing house, which slipped up.

Was this *purely* a "finish issue", or was the core quality of the gun affected?

Nothing wrong with the function. They were nicely ssembled and polished. The finish of the blue was weak and light in spots. The CCH was "milky". It seemed to be light and had no "rainbow" reflective sheen. The Henry Nettleton Cavalry revolver is a quality pistol. The finish was just a shock. The grips were the nicest part.

That's sad to hear.

I don't know who is doing the finish work on this model. I do know that a few folks on the SASS board were unhappy with the blueing as they expected it to be a bright blue. This is supposed to be a dark black/blue as it's supposed to recreate the military finish of the time.

Hopefully it's one of the bad examples that slip out of every shop from time to time. I know their other pistols have been top shelf.

- bought a Pontiac once because they had a great rep as a quality product..

Modern market = make it, then when people buy it,,, figure a way to make it cheaper. When they complain about the quality,, blame it on demand for the product.
