What is the best all around rifle caliber!!!

I like the 25-06, but to me it is a specialized long range antelope cartridge. It's pretty light for elk, moose, big bears, and it burns barrels up too fast for any kind of high volume varmint hunting.

Please can we make this "the perfect all around caliber, but mainly about bears" thread?

Because while there is no such creature, objectively, and subjectively it's just a list of cartridges, we haven't had a bear thread I several days, so that would make it more interesting.

And the answer is 375 Ruger. Because otherwise it's silly but will kill really big bears.

.357 in a lever gun. I live in South Carolina and can't think of anything a hot .357 won't bring down inside 50 to 75 yards. Match it up with a 4' revolver and you've got everything from 3 feet to 75 yards covered.

25-06 makes a terrible squirrel rifle
Not awesome on hides with mainstream bullet selection either......

B.R1 .270wsm with 150 gr Barnes, bark squirrels, kill bears, provide bait to bring the narwal up to the surface, cute hide holes, negligible recoil......wait slow barrel twist......cm or prc I suppose then

I personally don't believe it exists. I have no need/requirement to pick one general rifle round when I have the option to pick many specific calibers that do exactly what I want/need in the situation I am involved in.
