1st time I shot a rifle. .22 cal. single-shot, 1st round through a pop can at 75 yds, I was 8 yrs old.

.22 semi-auto at 50 yds, killed a 20 oz bottle cap with one shot. Grandfather (former Marine) coached me, hit it dead center. Had that cap til about 5 yrs ago.

Believe it or not

But its family tradition my Grandpa was a sharpshooter in World War II my dad learned from him and i learned from my dad. Well anyways i Have my Grandpa's old .22 Hornet if any of you know what that is and my grandpa used to shoot the tips of wooden matches stuck in the ground and my dad did too well my dad wanted to see i could do it so i grabed my now .22 Hornet lined upt the shot and 85 yards i lit the match but it just wasn't luck because i did three out of 4 and to say the least i was shocked and so was my dad and grandpa. proud moment for me,

First one happened when I saw a crow in the back yard. I loaded up the bb gun and stepped out on the deck. It flew, but I shot at it anyway. It dipped to the right, several feathers came off, and it kept on going. I retrieved the feathers. I thought that was pretty cool.

The second was when I saw a crow about 100 yards away. Opened the window (very quietly, they're dang smart birds), chambered, and shot him. Buckhorn sights on a Henry GoldenBoy. He jumped up in the air and fell down dead. I loaded 15 rounds in and started shooting just to make sure he was dead and for fun, couldn't hit him again. But I got the one that counted. :)

Rabbit

Jacklighting rabbits in southern Alabama on the pecan farm I was staying on. The owner got us some depradation permits so we were legal. Using an old Charter Arms 22 revolver I was the shooter while someone held the light from behind my right shoulder. I saw one eye light up at about 15 yards. Took the shot and the eye disapeared. The guy with the light said that I missed so I walked over and picked up my rabbit in the left eye and out the right. I got three more that night but all body shots.

So Hokkmike says to me about my famous shot with a slingshot, "OK, Chief 101, I am asking."
I replies, "On or about August in 1974 I was protecting my almost ripe avacados from a couple of persistant magpies, which I normally had used a .22 rifle (prolly a Ruger semiauto} to accomplish the duty. Well I had my wifes parents visiting and to say that would be a nono is an understatement. Getting tired of running out and trying to scare the beasts away I grabbed an old twigmade slingshot and sent out and grabbed a couple of pebbles, about half marble sized, chambered them both together and preceded to sneak up on the culprit magpies. As everybody knows magpies are so wary it's almost impossible to get close enough for a slingshot. I was still out about 25 yds when they both bolted, and in diferent directions. As happens when a covey takes flight I shoot at the center and miss everything. This time I had 2 rocks and I fired between the two birds and lo and behold, one stone took a big slice to the right and knocked one of the birds out of the air and the other rock hooked left and nailed the second rat-b******d magpie center on the body. Both birds floundered a little on the ground and got up and flew away. They never showed up in my avacado trees again. My in-laws had a little more respect for me after that, and, I never used a slingshot again. My best shot was my last. Chief

The best two shots of my life were made on the same day. Nailed two jackrabbits on the run with a Marlin 30/30. Both shots were at approx 50 yards. This took place in Nevada in the spring of 81.

Easy. I'd toss cans up in the air and let friends try to hit them with my Ruger Security-Six .357. Then I'd load it with Speer shotshell and hit the can every time myself.
