So those of you who shot the 30-06 pass 1000 meters, what bullet grain were you using? Would appreciate some load data from USSR and dthHunter.

I shot the .30-06 in 1,000 yard F Class for 3 years, and here is my load data:

Lapua brass
Fed. 210M primer
190gr Sierra MatchKing bullet
60.7gr RL22
2900fps
30.5MOA from a 100 yard zero to 1k

Thanks for your load data. I really appreciate it USSR. I see you and dtHunter should pretty heavy loads. Any of you ever tried lighter loads?

I hit the 500m target every time my second time qualifying with the m16A2 I don't know if I still could with my older eyes. I can nail a 8" steel square(16"quartered) at 600 with relative ease with my 110 7-08. I shot a groundhog once at about 250yds with a 22-250, that was the furthest critter I ever killed.

Furthest I ever tried was at a 6" piece of steel from a rail road tie at 440yards (give or take 5 yards or so).

Shot it with my Remington 700 .223

Took me a couple shots to figure out the drop, then it was easy.

Point target: 1250 with an M-39. First round was a 4 on a USMC Echo target next four were 5's.
Area target: Tank silhouette at around 2k with an M-2 and Mk-19.

2K with my AR-50, surplus bullets suck at that range! If you want to insure hits use match grade bullets, they fly better and are less affected by everything.

30.06 custom chamber .469 base dim, .339 neck. .075 freebore)
53 gr IMR4350
190 Winchester Match Bullet (no longer made)
2700 FPS. I could have loaded it hotter but it shot best groups at 2700 so I left it there.
Lapua cases (heads so soft could only fire one round with them)
Fed Match Primers
Won Palma Trophy Match two times with this load. 800,900 and 1000
2nd Place Canadian Cup two times. 600,800,900,1000

After winning Palma two years running they outlawed the 30.06. If I were to shoot it again it would be with LC 63 brass neck turned.

Since my wreck in June I have been in physical thereapy. My prone shooting days may be over least ways with a sling. Got lots of tendon damage in right shoulder and I shoot lefty thus cannot hook sling to shoulder. I might have to convert to F class.

I started selling off my long range magnums a few month back.

About 50 yards.

I've never been able to find a clear area with a safe backstop to shoot any further than that. Dang people *insist* on putting houses or roads near perfectly good shooting land...

1100 yards with a Remington 700. It wasn't pretty, but it was a hit. Shot longer distances with a M2 and Mk19, but thats just cheating.

I am waiting for some old cannon cocker to get on this thread and go for the win......lol

Sapper771: yeah my son in the marines fires the M777. Range is miles and miles and miles.

I recently qualified on a range by hitting 800 yard target 3 times with 7mm08 savage. Went back and repeated it with a highly modified Mosin.
