I'm making this a poll because I think it will give me a better understanding of price. I am talking about your average Bulg Mak in very good to excellent cond with holster, extra mag and normal stuff they come with. This is OTD price and should be an AVERAGE price not the highest or lowest you have ever seen. Basically, what can a guy expect to pay for one if he wants one in your area and doesn't find a great deal?

I paid about $185 for my first one a year ago. I have never seen the $99 Maks that I have heard of. The lowest price I have seen was $140 + taxk which would be about $148.40 OTD and that was for a pretty rough one not in very good shape.

They vary. Over the years I've bought 4, 3 of which I still have. For mine, high of $170, low of $99 (and the $99 one was pistol and one magazine only (no holster, no tools, no extra magazine, no milsurp grip), which was how the store made that price point).

The prices I see for Bulgarians now at the high sub-$200 level.

I got my two Bulgies last early year for about $175 each. Haven't seem one last couple of months that was under $200, although none were over $225. Currently, the local shop has one in the case for $300. Now, before everybody :what: -out over this, the in house gunsmith equipped the gun with Kimber factory night sights, beveled the magazine well, various other reliability oriented stuff, and refinished the entire gun. Why???? A couple of reasons. He regularly does the sight work for other customers and he loves to tinker with these things. Does a good job too. I'm thinking of getting my beater equipped with better sights (which is less than $100 if I don't do night sights).

They are getting harder to find and you'll need at least $200 with transfer fees, shipping or taxes if you buy locally. Unless another large shipment comes in, the price will continue to rise.

No clue as to what the current going price is, but I paid ~ $125 OTD each for three of them a few years back. ($99 + $10 shipping + $10 transfer + ~$6 tax IIRC)

Great guns, and one of them is lacking import markings and appeared unfired and unissued when I obtained it. My son received one on his 21st birthday, my wife uses another, and the one without the import markings is mine.

You won't find them at that price anymore unless you get lucky at a pawn shop or similar. The question asked was the current "going" price which is in the $200 range.

Depends on if you live here in CA

I paid $260 for mine total.

Now, if I went for something from SOG or some other online vendor

$120 for gun
$25 for shipping
$25 for DROS
$50 for FFL
$8 for tax
Total = $228

So, I paid $32 more than I could have, but I did get to see and feel the gun I bought and I got to support a local business.

$260 for a Mak? Wow! You really are "supporting" a local business. Maybe he will send you a postcard from his vaction home in Monte Carlo!:neener:

There is a fine line between "supporting" and being stepped on.

I got 2 E. German models for $175. each about 10 years ago, now going for $350. at same dealer, (empire arms), unfired and beautiful blueing. Got a Bulgarian from J&G a few years ago, $129.00, great condition, all came with all that holster stuff and extra mags.

All great shooters and of course, completely reliable.

I paid $125+tax at Bradis a year or so ago. I haven't found a shop since that has them, certainly not recently, and I won't step foot into Bradis again. Guess it's outdated info, but might give you a place to check if you've really gotta have one.

HTH,
Mike

The poll is shaping up nicely. I was hopeing to see a bell curve and it is starting. Two people voted for under $100 and that means that two people are either lying or didn't understand the question.

Nowhere are Maks going for less than $100 OTD. I just put that on the list to see how many morons and liars we have among us. So far two.
